Best NHL Betting Sites For 2026
Looking for the best NHL betting sites for 2026? On this page, we compare the leading NHL betting sites for US users. We assess each NHL sportsbook to help you choose the site that best suits your hockey betting preferences.
Whether you want to bet on the moneyline, puck line, player props, place live bets, wager on Stanley Cup futures, or bet from a mobile device, the information is broken down here in easy-to-follow detail.

The NHL is often described as the world’s fastest sport, and the pace can prove overwhelming to new bettors. It doesn’t have to feel that way, though. A cursory glance at the upcoming NHL schedule can help you fashion an NHL betting strategy for the next day’s games. It’s the wise bettor who is tracking the daily NHL news to see what’s trending, who’s hurt, or who’s about to come back into the lineup.
We’ll show you how to read NHL betting lines, explain how the puck line works, and cover the effect empty-net goals can have on hockey wagers. We’ll also discuss when to consider a Vezina Trophy futures bet.
As soon as the Carolina Hurricanes lifted the Stanley Cup at the end of the 2025-26 season, sportsbooks opened new markets on the 2026-27 Cup winner. Hockey is fast-paced, but disciplined bettors who focus on reliable information are better placed to assess NHL odds.

Best NHL betting sites for US bettors
The following hockey betting sites are among our preferred NHL sportsbooks for US bettors. We compare their hockey odds, puck lines, player props, Stanley Cup futures, live betting, mobile experience, payment options and bonuses. Check our reviews and current terms before placing a wager.
Bovada
A site that’s been in operation since 2011, Bovada brings a sterling reputation to NHL betting markets. At Bovada, bettors will find competitive underdog pricing and a deep selection of alternate lines and prop wagers. If you like same-game parlays, Bovada offers parlay building software for ease of assembly. For live betting, Bovada provides the opportunity to place real-time wagers on the NHL. Odds update constantly, making in-play betting a breeze.

Lucky Rebel
The deep bench of NHL betting markets that it delivers makes Lucky Rebel an ideal platform to do your NHL betting online. At Lucky Rebel, you’ll find a massive selection of NHL betting lines, ranging from standard moneylines to a comprehensive selection of live betting opportunities. Odds are competitive and updated regularly. Lucky Rebel provides a rich selection of prop betting markets and juices the odds to deliver a better overall price.

MyBookie
If you are new to NHL betting lines, MyBookie is a good place to get started. Offering straightforward moneyline wagering and NHL puckline betting, MyBookie keeps it simple for the hockey betting newcomer. It’s a very betting-friendly platform with simple-to-read lines and an easy-to-navigate site. Casual bettors will find a strong menu of player props, alternate lines, and specials. Boosted odds are offered regularly, and NHL live betting is fast and reliable, offering a variety of bets.

BetOnline
This is the betting site to seek out if NHL prop betting is what you desire. The player prop menu at BetOnline is far and away the most extensive of any of our recommended sites. You’ll find dozens of selections, everything from player shots totals to goalie save markets. These prop plays are available every day of the week on a variety of games. BetOnline is also known for getting its betting lines posted early, and for providing access to significantly higher betting limits.

BetNow
Reduced juice, better underdog odds, and teaser bets are among the highlights of the NHL betting coverage at BetNow. The BetNow mobile browser and live betting platform are much like the site itself, solid but not spectacular. There’s nothing flashy or enticing about the BetNow interface. But if it’s simplistic reliability you seek from an NHL betting site, you could do worse than BetNow. We checked the BetNow site in early July, and there were already markets for opening night of the 2026-27 NHL regular season.

BetUS
BetUS is known for its extensive sports coverage and competitive odds. In its NHL markets, the site has earned a sterling reputation for the depth of team and player props available. BetUS is also quick to react to breaking news like injury updates and adjust its odds accordingly. The BetUS NHL live betting markets also update frequently and offer a responsive interface for fast-paced wagering. In mid-summer, BetUS was already providing NHL betting markets on NHL division and conference outcomes. There were Stanley Cup, NHL awards, and season points futures markets, along with a series of NHL regular-season playoff specials to play.

Sportsbetting.ag
Sportsbetting is the site that delivers the goods for players who want to take advantage of NHL betting bonuses. The NHL betting promos offered at Sportsbetting include reload bonuses, odds boosts, and alternate lines. If you’re looking to be enticed by a series of bells and whistles, Sportsbetting isn’t the site for you. This is a platform that treasures substance over style. It’s simple to find your way around the site and place the NHL bets you are looking to make.

Because we get so many questions about bookies like FanDuel and DraftKings, we wanted to be clear about why they did not make our recommendations. These sites, along with others such as BetMGM, Caesars, and BetRivers, aren’t legally available in all 50 US states. The offshore NHL betting sites that we recommend can be accessed in any of the 50 states, so betting through them will always be available during the Stanley Cup or any other hockey betting event.
Current NHL Odds
Several elements can cause the NHL betting odds to move. Changes in NHL betting lines can occur due to injury updates, who the starting goalie is for a team in a game, or the recent form of a team. Travel is another factor. Is one team at the end of a long road trip, facing a well-rested opponent on home ice? Trade deadline moves, playoff seeding, and market action can also impact NHL betting strategy.
So always check the NHL standings and compare the latest NHL odds before deciding how to bet on the NHL.
Let’s look at the up-to-date NHL Stanley Cup betting odds at the leading NHL betting sites.

Best NHL betting promotions and bonuses
When you sign up as a new player with any of our recommended NHL betting sites, you will be presented with a generous welcome bonus. Several of our recommended sites also offer reload bonus offers and refer-a-friend packages. These NHL betting and promotional sportsbook bonuses can prove quite beneficial to your everyday NHL wagering activity.
Suppose you are planning to put a wager down on Stanley Cup futures. If you make that bet during the offseason, or early into the NHL regular season, a potential payout will be months away. Utilizing a portion of your welcome bonus here would make sense. That way, you aren’t leaving any of your own money in limbo for several months while awaiting the outcome of your wager.

For prop and live betting options, a reload bonus can be a solid option. They usually aren’t as big as a welcome bonus, so using the funds to make a small prop or in-play bet is a good fit. For casual moneyline bettors, the referral bonus is a sound choice. This is basically found money you receive when you convince a friend to sign up. And it generally arrives with a small rollover requirement attached, so funds from a winning wager will be yours very quickly.
How we rank NHL betting sites
At OSB, we take our responsibility to bettors seriously. When we rank the best NHL betting sites, we assess several NHL-specific criteria.
First, we look at the quality of hockey markets offered by a site. Are there alternate lines? Is there coverage of leagues beyond the NHL? A top NHL site is going to be delivering competitive odds across all NHL markets. Player props will be plentiful, everything from goal scoring to shots on goal. Not only will there be a wealth of live betting markets, but we will place the utmost priority on the speed at which those markets can be accessed. Stanley Cup futures will be available all year round, and these odds will be continuously updated to reflect the changing aspects of the NHL season.
How we test sportsbooks will go beyond merely assessing the caliber of NHL betting offered. We assess everything about a site to determine that you will be in good hands whenever you access it. Mobile usability is an important factor. It should be a breeze to navigate and work as seamlessly as the desktop site. The availability and reliability of payment methods and payout options, and whether they support crypto, is another consideration. We only recommend sites that provide responsive customer support. A welcome bonus is great, but we want to see sites that deliver a steady supply of bonus and promotional offers.

Best NHL betting apps
The NHL betting sites we recommend generally use mobile-optimised websites rather than standalone native apps. Bettors can open these sportsbooks through a mobile browser without downloading software from an app store.
These mobile-optimised websites require no download and use less device storage. They open through browsers such as Chrome or Safari and receive updates automatically, although they depend on a stable internet connection.
By contrast, a native app will have limited customer reach. Some features may not transition well from the desktop site to the app. Users of a native app to do their NHL betting are also going to be tasked with the ongoing challenge of keeping that app up to date. You will need to download and install regular software updates to be certain that the app continues to run at optimal quality. Web applications can be slower and less responsive than a mobile browser, but they can give you more control over performance.
How can I read NHL betting odds?
Perhaps the most common question posed by newcomers to NHL betting is how do odds work? The most commonly employed form of odds in NHL betting is American odds. These betting lines are easily recognized by the use of positive or negative numbers. Positive numbers indicate that the team is the underdog, and less likely to win than their opponent. The negative number represents the favored team, which oddsmakers believe would be more likely to win.
For instance, if you have the Toronto Maple Leafs at +300 and the Boston Bruins at -200, that means the Bruins are favored to win that game, and the Maple Leafs are the underdog. A bet on the Bruins wouldn’t pay out as much because the oddsmakers are predicting that they would be the ones to win, but a bet on the Maple Leafs would pay out much more if they did pull off the upset.
American odds are based on hypothetical $100 bets. At +300, if the Leafs won, the payout would be $400 – the $300 profit, plus the return of your $100 stake. Negative odds indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. At -200, you’ll be required to bet $200 on the Bruins to realize a $100 profit.
Less commonly used forms of odds are fractional and decimal. Fractional odds like 3/1 mean you win $3 for every $1 bet on a winning wager. Decimal odds give you your exact payout, including the stake. Bet $1 at odds of 6.0, and you would get back $6 -a $5 win and your $1 stake.
What are the main NHL betting types?
Now that we’ve covered what NHL odds look like, let’s look at popular hockey betting types that you will be able to choose from when placing a bet on NHL games.
Moneylines
Puck Lines
The Total
NHL Prop Betting
NHL Futures Betting
Period betting
The easiest betting type you can lay down on any given NHL game is the moneyline. It’s simple and easy to understand and great for new bettors. Your job is to determine which team will win the game. We’ve outlined basic moneyline bets above, so let’s dig in a little further.
If the Bruins and Maple Leafs are playing and you believe the Bruins will win, you select the Bruins, and you’re good to go. Ensure you review the odds and the pregame matchups to ensure you do plenty of research before making your bets.
Let’s suppose that the Bruins are the favored team, with -120 odds. A $120 wager, with the Bruins winning, would pay out $100 plus your initial wager. The Maple Leafs are the +450 underdog. If they upset the Bruins and win, a $100 wager would yield $450 plus your initial $100 stake.
Point spreads in the NHL are commonly referred to as the puck line. NHL puck lines are generally set at either -1.5, or +1.5.
For example, if you have the St. Louis Blues at -1.5 and the Dallas Stars at +1.5 at NHL sportsbooks, the Blues are favored to win the game. For the Blues to cash, they must beat the Stars by more than 1.5 goals. The Stars, on the other hand, need to win the game or lose by less than 1.5 goal
A total, or over/under wager, has nothing at all to do with which team wins the game. It’s all about how many goals the two teams combine to score.
If you have the Chicago Blackhawks versus the Nashville Predators, and the total is set at 7.5, you will need to decide if you think both teams will score more or less than 7.5 goals. If you bet the over and the game ends 6-2, you win, because eight combined goals is more than 7.5. But if the final score is 4-3, you lose, because seven goals are less than 7.5.
NHL prop bets are outcomes within the game. They are generally over/under wagers on statistical outcomes. For a team prop, it could be on total power plays in the game. Player props can include over/under totals for how many goals or shots a player will record. Other popular NHL prop plays include shots on goal, anytime goal scorer, goalie saves, power-play points, and first team to score.
There are also head-to-head matchup props. You bet on which of two players will record the most goals, assists or points in a game.
NHL futures are extremely popular early-season wagers because they offer huge value with higher risk. NHL futures betting means you are placing a bet at online hockey betting sites on which team or player will win an event months in advance of its conclusion.
Suppose the Colorado Avalanche are listed at +900 to win the Stanley Cup. At that price, if you bet $100 and the Avs won the Cup, you’d bank $1000 – a $900 profit and the return of your $100 stake. As soon as the Stanley Cup is hoisted each year, NHL sportsbooks put out the following year’s futures.
NHL futures can also be set on players to win specific awards such as the Hart or Vezina Trophy. Futures wagering offers the chance to win a big payday from a small stake. But it requires patience to wait for the outcome on your bet.
Period betting allows you to wager on a single 20-minute period rather than the full game. Common markets include the period moneyline, puck line and total goals.
Beginners should check whether a three-way period moneyline includes a draw option. Period bets are settled only on the selected period and do not include later periods or overtime.
Live NHL betting
Live NHL betting lets you place wagers after the game has started. Prices can change after goals, penalties, injuries, goalie changes, intermissions, overtime situations and empty-net opportunities.
Common in-play markets include the live moneyline, live puck line, next goal, period totals, team totals and selected player props. Availability varies by sportsbook and game.

When live NHL odds move
A power play can shorten the attacking team's next-goal price, while a goalie pull may increase the chance of another goal and move the live total. A starting goalie leaving through injury can also cause an immediate moneyline adjustment.
Do not chase every momentum swing. Review the new odds, check the game situation and keep live wagers within your normal bankroll limits.
What are the best NHL betting strategies?
A consistent NHL betting strategy starts with research and bankroll control. The following checks can help you make more informed decisions, although no strategy guarantees a profit.
Compare odds across several sportsbooks before betting
The NHL betting lines will vary from sportsbook to sportsbook. Even if you can get -108 on a puckline instead of -110, it's more money in your pocket. That's why you always shop odds at several NHL betting sites before placing any bet.
Confirm starting goalies
Every NHL team has a designated No. 1 goaltender. You need to know the full roster of No. 1 goalies if you're going to bet on the NHL. That way you'll instantly know when a team is opting to go with its backup netminder, and it might be an opportune time to bet against them.
Track injuries and scratches
Injuries are a vital component to betting research in all sports. Key injuries can easily swing the outcome of a game. Beyond the hole it creates in the lineup, it means that some player will be asked to fill a role they don't normally play, which could lead to matchup issues in a game.
Account for back-to-backs and travel spots
Hockey has a different travel schedule than most sports. Teams will go on lengthy road trips. They will play back-to-back games and three games in four nights. Identifying when a tired team at the end of a long journey is facing a rested opponent can prove lucrative.
Watch special teams and penalty kill performance
Teams that win the special teams battle generally win the game. That's why knowing which teams have the most lethal power play, or the stingiest penalty killers, is of paramount importance.
Use shot volume and expected-goals trends carefully
Analytics are a big part of hockey, and they should be a big part of your NHL betting. Teams with strong shot-volume and expected-goals numbers may create more scoring chances, but these figures should be considered alongside goaltending, injuries and opponent quality.
Treat overtime and shootout rules correctly
There are no ties in the NHL. A tie game after 60 minutes is decided either by 3-on-3 overtime or shootout. A shootout is a roll-of-the-ice skills competition. Neither of these elements is part of normal hockey. There are NHL betting sites that offer 60-minute wagers and allow you to bet on a tie. Playing a 60-minute moneyline allows you to eliminate the randomness of OT or the shootout.
Manage bankroll with fixed units
NHL betting is no different than other betting in this aspect. You should manage your bankroll carefully. Choose a fixed unit that represents a small percentage of your bankroll and use it consistently. If you lose, move on rather than increasing the next stake to recover the loss.
Is NHL betting legal in the USA?
NHL betting availability depends on the state where you are located. Some states permit licensed online and mobile sportsbooks, some permit only limited or retail betting, and others do not offer regulated sports betting. Check your state regulator and our guide to online sports betting USA before creating an account.
If it turns out that they don't, you aren't out of luck or out of options. Offshore online sportsbooks are accessible in the majority of US states. Offshore sportsbooks are called that because while they are licensed and regulated entities, that license and regulator are situated in a country other than the USA.
Some bettors find offshore sports betting sites offer more appeal than a site that is regulated in the USA. For NHL betting purposes, offshore sites often provide greater variety in markets and more NHL futures betting than a US-regulated betting site. Many offshore sports betting sites often accept cryptocurrency as a payment and payout method. You won't be given that option with a US-licensed sportsbook.
There are two factors to keep in mind when assessing NHL betting sites. One is age restrictions. In most states, the minimum betting age is 21, although there are a few states where the legal age is 18 or 19. The second factor is responsible gambling resources. A quality betting site that we recommend will provide tools to help someone dealing with problem gambling. These will include betting and time limits, and even the option for self-exclusion from a betting site. There will also be links to deliver easy access to organizations that offer counseling to problem gamblers, like the National Problem Gambling Helpline.
How is the NHL structured + NHL Calendar
There are 32 NHL teams. They are divided into two conferences, Eastern and Western, and four divisions. The Atlantic and Metropolitan divisions are part of the Eastern Conference. The Central and Pacific divisions form the Western Conference. Each conference has 16 teams, and each division has eight teams.
The 2026-27 NHL regular season will be the 110th in NHL history. The league is expanding the regular-season NHL schedule to 84 games from its previous total of 82 games. The season will open on Sept. 29 with five games, including a matchup between the reigning Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, the Cup champs in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
The new schedule matrix will see each NHL team play 28 intra-divisional games against divisional opponents – two home and two away. They will face each team in the other intra-conference division three times. Four squads will visit a cross-division opponent twice and play host to that team once. Four other clubs from the other division will visit once and play host to each cross-divisional opponent twice.
Every team will also play home-and-home against each of the 16 teams in the other conference.
The top three teams in each division and the two best wild card teams in each conference qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs. The four rounds of playoffs lead to Eastern and Western Conference champions facing off in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Finals.
