Julian Sayin is the new Heisman Trophy favorite after passing for 316 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-14 victory over Penn State on Saturday. Will the Ohio State gunslinger become the first freshman quarterback to win the award since Jameis Winston in 2013?
Let's look at the latest betting futures for the 2025 Heisman Trophy. Odds are subject to change.

Sayin a slight favorite over Mendoza
Julian Sayin (+180) is the new Heisman Trophy favorite following another four-touchdown performance against the Nittany Lions. The redshirt freshman has passed for 2,188 yards, 23 TDs and three interceptions while leading his Buckeyes to a perfect 8-0 record. He ranks first nationally in quarterback efficiency, No. 2 in yards per attempt and No. 3 in TD passes.
Fernando Mendoza (+225) had a modest stat line (201 passing yards, TD, INT) in the Hoosiers' 55-10 victory over Maryland on Saturday. The 22-year-old junior is second in the nation with 25 pass TDs and just 4 picks. With Ohio State and Indiana locking down the top two spots in the CFP rankings, the Heisman could be decided in the Big Ten title game.

Simpson and Reed in the mix
Ty Simpson (+350) is third in the Heisman betting market, but he's actually the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Crimson Tide QB has passed for 2,184 yards, 20 TDs and one interception for an Alabama squad that hasn't lost since their opening week against Florida State.
Marcel Reed (+675) has 17 passing TDs and another six on the ground for the undefeated Aggies. If he can lead his team to victories on the road against two top-25 opponents (No. 19 Missouri and No. 13 Texas) while securing Texas A&M's first College Football Playoff appearance, the redshirt freshman could take home the Heisman.
Top non-quarterbacks
While Travis Hunter won the honor last year, quarterbacks have won seven of the past nine Heisman Trophies. Jeremiyah Love (+4000) is the top non-QB contender this season with 894 rushing yards and 11 TDs. Notre Dame has won six consecutive games following season-opening losses to Miami FL and Texas A&M. But the last running back to capture the Heisman was Derrick Henry a decade ago.
Jeremiah Smith (+4500) hauled in six receptions against Penn State for 123 yards and two scores. In a school famous for wide receivers, he just became the fastest Ohio State pass catcher to 1,500 receiving yards. But while he's probably the best player in college football, it's hard to separate his production from his freshman QB's.

2025 Heisman Trophy Award Picks
If you're confident in who's going to win the Big Ten title game versus Ohio State and Indiana, by all means take your pick between Julian Sayin (+180) and Fernando Mendoza (+225), however, the loser of that game is almost certainly going to be automatically disqualified.
That's why we'll take Ty Simpson (+350), who has a chance to impress voters if he can lead Alabama to another SEC Championship.
