The Buffalo Bills Are Putting the Rest of the NFL on Notice

The NFL is heading to London for Week 5! This year, the showcase will feature the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars, on the field at Tottenham Hotspur New Stadium in London, England, on Sunday, October 8, at 9:30 a.m. eastern standard time.

Unlike seasons past, this London showdown features two teams with playoff aspirations. One of them is even among the most popular options for betting on the Super Bowl. This is all to say, the stakes are meaningful for both Jacksonville and Buffalo. Who will prevail? That’s what we’re here to figure out.

First, though, here’s a look at the latest NFL online betting odds for Jaguars vs. Bills:

Please remember to double-check these online NFL betting odds right up until you place your wager. Our Jaguars vs. Bills betting odds are accurate entering Tuesday, October 3. That gives the best NFL online betting sites plenty of time to make adjustments prior to opening kick-off. We’d also be remiss if we didn’t remind you that the Jaguars and Bills will be kicking off at 9:30 a.m. eastern standard time. That’s more than three hours earlier than the typical time of the earliest game of the weekend, so be sure to plan your decision-making process accordingly.

Anyhow, oddsmakers are treating the Bills as fairly decided favorites following three straight victories. But the Jaguars are coming off an impressive, and much-needed, win of their own over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4. Given the weird start time, could this matchup be destined to deliver some twists and turns? Let’s get to our Bills vs. Jaguars predictions!

The Buffalo Bills Currently Look Like One of the Three Best Teams in the NFL

Alarm bells were sounding left and right after the Buffalo Bills fell to the New York Jets in Week 1 despite the former losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the fourth play of the game. Though Buffalo followed up that letdown with consecutive victories over the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders, many remained unconvinced of the Bills’ supposed Super Bowl candidates. Neither of those opponents were particularly threatening. And given how Buffalo flamed out of the 2022 NFL playoffs, many wanted to see something that resembled more a statement victory.

Well, that’s just what the Bills delivered to the masses in Week 4. Buffalo throttled the red-hot Miami Dolphins, hanging 48 points while limiting perhaps the NFL’s highest-octane offense to just 20 points of their own. It was a much-needed reminder of the Bills’ ceiling. They can be imperfect at times—maddeningly so. But at their peak, they are one of the NFL’s most dangerous teams.

Quarterback Josh Allen is looking fabulous at the moment. He racked up 320 yards on just 25 attempts in Week 4 to go along with four touchdowns and also a running score. Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs caught three of those four TD throws and finished with six total receptions and 120 yards. With the exception of the crew in San Francisco, there is no defense that’s going to slow down the Bills right now. They are averaging 41 points over their past three games, during which time they’ve outscored opponents by a combined 90 points.

Jacksonville’s defense has proven to be pretty stout, which is a concern. But the Jaguars are still 21st in net yards allowed per passing attempt, as well as 20th in passing touchdowns surrendered. On top of that, Jacksonville’s defense has been forced to shoulder a lot of the offensive burden too. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and friends have struggled if they’re not given exceptional field position. Even then, they can struggle to move the chains. The Jaguars are so far 18th in net yards per passing attempt and a disastrous 26th in net yards per rushing attempt. A weird start time could shift the competitive balance towards the middle for this matchup, as could the neutral-territory element. From where we’re standing, though, it would be a genuine shock to see Jacksonville pull out a victory over this version of Buffalo.

Will Buffalo Deliver a Blowout at the Expense of Jacksonville?

Even though the Bills are clearly the better team, linemakers aren’t exactly expecting them to waltz toward victory. Just look at the latest NFL point spread betting odds for Jacksonville vs. Buffalo:

  • Buffalo Bills, -5.5 (-108)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars, +5.5 (-112)

International matchups can always throw the final result for a whirl. Even so, we’re still a little surprised the Jaguars aren’t getting more points. Then again, to their credit, they have only been blown out once this season. They lost by just eight points to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. On the flip side, they fell by 20 points to the lowly Houston Texans in Week 3.

Neutral territory ultimately gives us a little pause. Could the Bills be jet-lagged? But they’re not the only ones making the hike to London. And after their rout of the Dolphins, it’s time to treat them as the dominant force they’ve been for the past few weeks.

OSB Prediction: Buffalo Bills, -5.5 (-108)

Will the Bills Offense Continue to Run Roughshod Over the Jaguars?

Believe it or not, the over/under for Bills vs. Jaguars is the toughest decision we face. Here are the latest betting lines on this front:

  • Over 48 (-110)
  • Under 48 (-110)

The Bills have almost covered the over on their own these past few weeks. But the Jaguars defense is more aggressive than anything else they’ve faced this season. We’re not so sure Jacksonville will get at Josh Allen, but they will bring pressure and can force more than their fair share of turnovers.

The Jaguars’ offense, meanwhile, could be similarly derailed. They’ve struggled to move the ball against much weaker defenses, and there’s a chance Buffalo’s front seven eats Jacksonville’s underachieving offensive line for breakfast.

OSB Prediction: Under 48 (-110)
