Lions favored at Ford Field

Bucs injuries piling up

Baker Mayfield will be without Emeka Egbuka on Monday night after the star rookie strained his hamstring in Week 7. Chris Godwin will also miss the contest, as will sophomore running back Bucky Irving.

Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans is expected to make his return after three weeks on the shelf with a hamstring injury. If not, Mayfield's top pass catchers will be veteran Sterling Shepard, tight end Cade Otton and two virtual unknowns in Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson.

Big time offenses

Tampa Bay registered two interceptions and six sacks on San Francisco's Mac Jones on Sunday. Todd Bowles' defense will need another big performance against Detroit's high-scoring offense on Monday night. While the Lions were kept in check by Kansas City in Week 6, they averaged over 40 points per contest in their four previous games.

Both cast off by the franchises that drafted them No. 1 overall, Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield are tied for the most passing touchdowns (81) in the NFL since the start of the 2023 season.

The Buccaneers are shorthanded at the receiving position, but Detroit's secondary is also crippled with injuries and safety Brian Branch will miss the Monday nighter after being suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct.
