OSB Philadelphia A Touchdown Favorite To Hand Dallas Opening Loss

Yes, NFL fans, the preseason is behind us! Week 1 of the National Football League brings us the Game Of The Week. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles open up the season from Lincoln Financial Field. Cowboys vs Eagles bets expect a higher tempo than what we saw in the two 2024 contests. In many ways, this September game becomes a barometer for Dallas in many more ways than it could for Philadelphia.

Cowboys vs Eagles And The Dancing Numbers

Cowboys vs Eagles bets examine the dancing numbers. Now, some believe the Dallas Cowboys are still the second best team in the NFC East. Basically, the assertion is last year was a total fluke and the Dak Prescott injury derailed the Cowboys. Dallas may have been on its way to missing the playoffs anyway. However, the season-ending injury to Prescott killed any hope of the Cowboys making it to the second season. Worse, the two matchups between these division rivals were beyond ugly.

One thing that has to be said is that barring something insane, Philadelphia will not outscore Dallas 75-14. Now will the Cowboys turn the ball over a combined nine times. Okay, there will be turnovers but not that many. Some harken back to the meeting in Dallas from 2023 where Prescott and the Cowboys routed the Eagles 33-13. Honestly, that was a lifetime ago. Since then, Philadelphia won the Super Bowl obviously and Dallas is just trying to get back to the playoffs.

Dallas gets Prescott back, acquires George Pickens, and seems to have a handle on things. Naturally, the Micah Parsons drama starts. Someone is lying between Jerry Jones and Parsons. Whatever the case, the distraction does not help a Cowboys team desperate to show they belong with the Super Bowl champs. It is no wonder why the spread has flirted with seven points a few times and could go higher perhaps.

Getting the 6.5 number is ideal here. At around 7.5 to 8 points, that may be more enticing. Dallas has the offense to stay in the game with Philadelphia if they do not make mistakes. Philadelphia expects to push the tempo which helps here and makes them a favorite to bet on.

Embracing The Game Total?

So, Cowboys vs Lions bets ask why embrace the game total? The likelihood that more movement comes between now and next Thursday is high. Already, the number here has moved from 45.5 to 46.5 on some betting venues. Shop around or even try to examine the alternate. Plus money typically is right at 47.5 points currently. That now stands in the +105 to +110 range. For those wondering, the odds that the teams combine for 50+ points is as high as +130 currently.

While Philadelphia can easily put up 30 points next week, do not underestimate Dallas to put up 20+ points themselves. Again, this is not the same Cowboys offense as last season. Even with Prescott under center, Dallas was hampered considerably. One thing that may be a little more consistent is the Dallas defense. Dallas ranked 31st in points allowed and could finish in the bottom third again in 2025-26. Could they give up 27.5 points per game again? Absolutely.

Yes, Dallas has huge challenges in containing dynamic offenses. Even New Orleans, when healthy, put up 40+ points. Detroit did too. Philadelphia scored 41 in Dallas late last season. Philadelphia's balance combined with Dallas' issues up the middle have bettors salivating here. Again, is Philadelphia going to win by 25-30 points? Probably not. However, points are there for the taking.

Taking the chance of the two teams scoring 50+ points next Thursday night is not an outrageous ask.

Spanning The Props

The Cowboys vs Eagles bets start spanning the props. Yes, those props often start with a bang when NFL seasons open. Numbers go crazy, pinball machines go off, and Week 1 feels like an outlier. Saquon Barkley scored three times in the Philadelphia opener against Green Bay and had 109 rushing yards. No one would be surprised to see this again. Is Barkley going to top 2000 rushing yards this season? Now, that is for another time. However, 2+ touchdowns rolls in at +330 odds. Even that 100+ rushing yards is now +115.

Do not forget that Dak Prescott may pile on the passing yards especially in the second half. It is something he often does. Prescott is around Even money to throw 250+ yards through the air in Week 1. The Eagles gave up their fair share of yards including 251 in last year's opener against Green Bay. Do not be shocked if something like that happens again. A George Pickens anytime touchdown is +200. CeeDee Lamb is at +150. Both receivers could score a touchdown here.

As always, keep looking around. This is only the beginning. Many picks and props are going to be out there. Our safest choice is Barkley topping the 100 yard rushing mark.
