Canadiens vs Oilers picks

Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers will be looking to continue their free-scoring ways on Monday evening against the Minnesota Wild, who they already beat on Friday night by a score of 5-2 in Alberta. This time, the two meet in St. Paul at the Xcel Energy Center, with puck drop scheduled for 8 PM ET. Edmonton has won two in a row after the latest victory, while Minny just beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 on Saturday. Find the Oilers vs Wild prediction below.

Edmonton vs Minnesota Betting Preview

After a heroic run to the Western Conference Finals last season, the Oilers are off to a respectable start in 2022 with a 16-12-0 record. Like years past, it's their offense that is stealing the spotlight. Edmonton is fifth in the NHL with 3.64 goals per game and first in power play percentage. McDavid is once again proving why he's the best player in the world, scoring 25 goals and assisting 29 in 28 games played. He leads the league in points, goals, and assists. Teammate Leon Draisaitl is right behind him with 46 points, netting 19 times and setting up another 27. Rounding out the attack is Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who is also enjoying a solid campaign. The veteran has scored 14 goals and tallied 19 assists, rounding out the Oilers' terrific trio.

Coming into Monday, Edmonton is really playing well, especially versus West opponents, going 5-1 in their last six games. And on Friday, they ended a seven-game losing skid against the Wild. Nuge was the leading catalyst in this one, scoring a goal and contributing two assists. Draisaitl and McDavid also both found the back of the net. Defensively, this was a much better performance from the Oilers. Stuart Skinner stopped 42 saves in goal. They've now allowed just six goals in the last three games. While Edmonton doesn't typically play all that well against Minnesota, Friday was a step in the right direction and should give them confidence for Monday.

Minnesota is definitely one of the better teams in the West with a well-balanced roster on both ends. They won't wow you in any specific area but instead, the Wild are just solid. There are three scorers in double-digits, led by Kirill Kaprizov with 17 goals and 17 assists. He's an absolute beast in front of goal and easily their best player. Joel Erikkson Ek and Matt Boldy both have 10 goals apiece, too.

On Saturday, Minny rolled into Vancouver and put in work, shutting out a Canucks team that had won three straight. Mats Zuccarello tallied two assists, while Sam Steel, Connor Dewar, and Boldy all got on the scoresheet here. Filip Gustavsson was unbeatable in between the posts, saving 35 shots. He's allowing just 2.47 goals per game in 22'. The Wild now return home for four games, starting with this Oilers matchup. After losing to them a few days ago, there is definitely an incentive here. But, Minnesota could be relatively tired after just one day off in the last four.

Oilers vs Wild Prediction

Edmonton is definitely more well-rested and I think that could make a difference here. Plus, the Oilers are surging at the moment and scoring lots of goals. As a clear underdog, they're worth a pick on the puck line at the very least. A moneyline bet isn't a bad idea, either. We are starting to wonder if either team make it to the latter stages of the Stanley Cup 2023?
