Denver (-155)

Peter Barton Stadium witnessed a packed house for the Big East conference clash as Denver (8-2, 2-0) dominated St. John’s with an impressive 18-8 victory. Establishing a commanding 6-1 lead in the first quarter, Denver maintained control throughout the game, securing a comfortable win. A standout aspect of their performance was their dominance in ground balls, with Denver scooping up 33 compared to St. John's 20. Alex Stathekis showcased his prowess at the X once again, winning 18 out of 30 faceoff opportunities for Denver.

Highlighting Denver's depth, ten different players found the back of the net, with Noah Manning and Mic Kelly leading the charge with hat tricks. Additionally, four players contributed multiple goals to the team's scoring effort. Remarkably, this marks the 30th occasion since 2008 that Denver has seen double-digit scorers in a single game, with this being the third instance this year following victories against Cornell and LeMoyne.

Georgetown (+120)

Georgetown University's men's lacrosse squad extended its winning streak to eight games in a row with a defensive-focused 11-8 triumph against visiting Marquette on Saturday afternoon. The victory boosts the Hoyas' record to 8-2 for the season and maintains their flawless 2-0 standing in Big East conference play, while Marquette's record drops to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in conference action.

The game kicked off with a slow tempo as Georgetown struck first with Llewellyn's goal at the 9:15 mark. However, Marquette quickly responded with three consecutive goals within a mere 2 minutes and 26 seconds, seizing a 3-1 lead. Crogan managed to narrow the margin with a goal less than two minutes later, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of Marquette by the end of the first quarter.

Georgetown bounced back strongly in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 4-1. This surge included a pivotal goal by Carroll with just 11 seconds remaining in the half. That propelled the Hoyas to a 6-4 lead at halftime.

Scoring slowed down in the third period, with Carroll being the lone scorer for either side, resulting in a 7-4 advantage for Georgetown heading into the final quarter. Moore, Georgetown's goalkeeper, showcased his skills with eight saves out of his total of 14 during this period.

Marquette mounted a comeback effort in the final quarter, netting three consecutive goals to tie the game at 7-7 with 12:50 remaining. However, Georgetown's offense responded with resilience, scoring four unanswered goals over the next 11 minutes to secure a decisive victory.

Prediction

Denver's Head Coach, Matt Brown, appears to have instilled a sense of confidence in his team at a crucial juncture as they enter the heart of the Big East conference schedule. If Denver can dominate ground balls like they did in the win over St John's, they should be too strong for Georgetown.

I am predicting a win for the favorites.
