With no professional or collegiate sports teams in the state, Wyoming is still pushing ahead with sports betting legalization. Their high school football and basketball programs are decent, and now sports bettors will be able to participate in mobile sports betting.

Wyoming Sports Betting Timeline

We delve deep into the history of sports betting in the state of Wyoming.

PASPA back In 2018 and the Introduction of Legal Betting

Roughly half of the United States has taken action and legalized sports betting since the overturn of PASPA in May of 2018, and Wyoming joined them in 2021. Governor Mark Gordon signed a bill into law on April 5, 2021, allowing for mobile sports betting without the need for a retail location.

Sports betting law became legal in September 2021, allowing citizens to bet via apps and online sites. This is exciting for the state and will bring a lot of revenue as a result of the change of legislation.

Betting In Casinos in Wyoming

Wyoming only has a handful of casinos, and due to their proximity to Nevada, they don’t really see a need to spend any more state money on casinos when most would prefer to cruise over to the gambling HQ of the United States for a weekend.

This is interesting, as many states are seeing huge boosts in tax revenue from sports betting - the potential for Wyoming’s economy is substantial. Instead, they’re allowing Wyoming residents to funnel their betting dollars into other states’ economies.

Wyoming is unique in the fact that its laws around fantasy gambling are fairly lax, and there are no laws around Daily Fantasy Sports betting. Many states banned it, and we figure the ones who allow it, just don’t care all that much if people are betting on fantasy or not. Governing officials don’t have a piece in the fantasy pie, and don’t have any avenues that would directly compete, so why bother?

Can I bet on sports in Wyoming?

You sure can. Except not in a physical sportsbook because they hardly have adequate casinos, let alone sportsbooks. You can gamble on the internet on online offshore sportsbooks. Starting in 2021, Wyoming sports bettors will be able to enjoy local mobile sports betting.

The best part about online sportsbooks is how convenient they are to place bets from just about anywhere. You can bet from your smartphone, laptop, or tablet; from the couch or bus or sports bar.

Online sportsbooks boast great rewards and bonuses. Many have sign-up bonuses that you can use to increase your initial deposit. Usually in the form of a match bonus, which will match your deposit to a certain percentage.

Many sportsbooks have a wide selection of deposit options, so you never have to worry about trying to figure out how to sign up for an ewallet if you don’t want to, or sending the sportsbook a bank transfer. You can usually use any credit card, debit card, or even Paypal!
