Friday night is the definition of a marquee matchup in the Bay Area as the surging Cleveland Cavaliers (8-3) visit the struggling Golden State Warriors (4-7), who will be hoping to break out of their cold streak after three days off. The Cavs have actually lost two in a row on the West Coast to the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings but did win eight straight prior to that. The Dubs meanwhile ended a five-game skid on Monday against the Kings behind a big night from Stephen Curry. This is the first meeting in 2022-23 between these two teams and Golden State has actually won 10 consecutive against Cleveland that dates back to January of 2017. The Dubs are a slim 2-point favorite for Friday's contest. They're just 3-8 ATS, though. Cleveland sits at 8-3 ATS.

Cleveland vs Golden State Betting Analysis

The Cavs have looked like one of the most impressive organizations in the league thus far. The blockbuster trade for Donovan Mitchell is fully paying off, with the former Utah Jazz star averaging 31.9 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per night to lead the charge. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Caris LeVert are all putting up solid numbers, too. On both sides of the ball, Cleveland is showing out. They rank third in offensive rating and second in defensive rating while shooting a blistering 40.1% from long range. That's also second in the Association.

But, the Cavaliers have hit a small cold streak, dropping back-to-back games. First, J.B. Bickerstaff's squad blew a lead against the Clippers then lost to the Kings on Wednesday. Mitchell balled out for 38 on 16 for 28 shooting from the field, but Cleveland didn't lead until 9:13 in the fourth quarter. Sacramento's first unit all finished in double-figures and did a fantastic job of pushing the Cavs to the brink. Turnovers proved to be a problem for Cleveland, committing 18 of them which translated into 18 points for the Kings.

The Dubs have looked like a shell of their former selves in 2022-23. Steve Kerr's team is 4-7 and has the fourth-worst defensive rating in the NBA. But, after a few days off and a standout performance Monday in Sacramento, the hope is Golden State can now find a rhythm as they return home. Steph Curry continued his impressive campaign here, erupting for a season-high 47 points and also going 7 for 12 from distance. Andrew Wiggins added 25 points as well. Overall, it was a solid showing. The Warriors shot 37% from three-point land and dished out 28 assists, showcasing that tremendous ball movement we're used to seeing from this group. The Dubs shot 50% from the field, too.

Donte DiVincenzo is expected to return to the lineup Friday after missing time with an injury and his ability to shoot the triple off the bench should provide a boost. Although the win over Sacramento was by no means convincing, a victory is a victory. Even for the defending champs, it's a confidence booster and they need that badly right now. Given their recent success against the Cavs across the last five years, Golden State will be walking in with their heads held high. But, Cleveland cannot be taken lightly.

Cavaliers vs Warriors Prediction

I know history says the Dubs dominate this matchup, but the Cavs are legit. Yes, Cleveland just lost two straight games, but this squad is dominating on both ends. Golden State isn't where they want to be yet and I truly believe Mitchell and Co. will expose them.
