Heat Favored Over Thunder Wednesday Night

On Wednesday night, the Miami Heat will continue their four-game road trip in the Southwest as they visit Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder for a cross-conference matchup at the Paycom Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 8 PM ET. The Heat are starting to trend in the right direction and just beat the Indiana Pacers on Monday, although they put up just 87 points in total. OKC meanwhile has lost three straight contests, falling to the Dallas Mavericks two nights ago as well. Find the Heat vs Thunder picks below.

Before we get into the odds, preview, and pick, take a look at our tips for betting on NBA games and how to bet on NBA futures.

The Heat is a very slim 3-point road favorite Wednesday, which makes sense. They've only covered in 33.3% of their games in 2022-23 and own an ATS record of 9-18-1. On the other hand, the Thunder are thriving ATS, going 16-11 and covering nearly 60% of the time.

Miami has held the advantage in this matchup though, winning four straight meetings.

Miami vs OKC Betting Preview

After nearly making the NBA Finals last season, this has not been a good start for the Heat. Yes, injuries have played a big part, but regardless, this team is just struggling to find any consistency, especially offensively. Erik Spoelstra's group is putting up just 107.9 points per game. That ranks 29th in the Association. For a roster with numerous talented scorers, it's unacceptable. Miami is also in the bottom 10 in field goal and three-point percentage. On a more positive note, the Heat are nearly at full strength again and can hopefully start to find their rhythm. While Monday's victory over Indiana was by no means pretty, a win is a win. Bam Adebayo led the charge with 22 points and 17 rebounds, while Jimmy Butler contributed 20 points, seven boards, and five dimes. Four other players had at least nine points apiece. The shooting woes continued though, draining a mere 26% from beyond the arc. Luckily the Pacers were just even worse at the offensive end. Miami needs to start scoring a lot more and that means everyone in the rotation chipping in. That's not happening at the moment.

The Thunder are sitting at 11-16 on the season. You'd have to thank SGA for their half-decent record (considering they're in a rebuild). The Canadian guard is playing at an MVP level through 25 games, averaging 31.2 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per night. While it's hard to imagine he'll actually win the award since OKC isn't a contender, it's definitely impressive to see Gilgeous-Alexander dominating on a nightly basis. He truly looks unstoppable. Backcourt mate Josh Giddey is also posting 14.7 points, 7.8 boards, and 5.4 dimes per contest. The duo is giving Thunder fans hope that better days could be ahead, especially when Chet Holmgren returns next season. SGA did all that he could on Monday in Dallas, but it wasn't enough. The former Clipper erupted for a game-high 42 points in the loss. In fact, Oklahoma City had five scorers in double figures. However, the combo of Luka Doncic, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Tim Hardaway Jr combined for 78 points. Luka had 38 all on his own. Returning home should give the Thunder a boost of confidence considering they play a lot better at the Paycom Center.

Heat vs Thunder Picks

I honestly have little belief in Miami this season. They've yet to really prove anything. The Thunder are ATS kings and have beaten some decent teams including the Bulls, Timberwolves, Hawks, and Clippers. I'm liking them at +3.
