Champions League Final Picks: The Draw the Best Bet

The normal time draw looks like the best bet in the Champions League Final.

Who do Bettors Favor?

According to the best online sportsbook sites shows that Liverpool are the bookies’ favorite to win the Champions League title for the seventh time. They are rated as +110 with most sportsbooks, while the Spanish giants Real Madrid at +240 and the normal time draw at +260

How they Reached the Final

Both sides came through the Group stage easily. Real Madrid won five out of six games, while Liverpool had a 100% record. After that, however, things got a little more complicated.

Liverpool's hardest game of the tournament to date came against Internazionale, who were at that time the defending Serie A winners, but a 2-0 win in Milan secured the fixture for Jurgen Klopp's side, who went on to beat Benfica in the quarter-finals and Villarreal – the weakest of the last four teams in the semi-finals to get to the final.

Real faced PSG, one of the early season favorites for the competition, in the Round of 16. They were 2-0 behind on aggregate with half an hour left in the second leg when Karim Benzema struck a superb hat-trick to take them through. Benzema came to the rescue again in the quarter-final against Chelsea, scoring four goals over two legs to secure a difficult encounter.

The most remarkable of their victories came in the semi-finals against Manchester City, who were heavy favorites. Real trailed 4-3 after the first leg in Madrid but scored two goals in injury time, followed by another Benzema extra-time goal to reach the final.

Team Tournament Record

Real Madrid and Liverpool are two of Europe's most powerful clubs, and they are unsurprisingly near the top of the all-time Champions League standings.

Real's first appearance in this competition occurred in 1956 when it was still known as the European Cup. They've won it a total of 13 times, including seven times since the competition was renamed the Champions League. With 13 triumphs in 16 final appearances, they also boast a high success rate at this stage.

Liverpool has made it to the final of this competition nine times and has won it six times, the most recent victories coming in 2005 and 2019. They had a golden period in the European Cup in the late 1970s and early 1980s, winning it four times between 1977 and 1984.

In their previous meetings, these two had a very even record. Real has a 4-3 lead with one tie, and they have also won their two most recent high-profile matches, a two-legged quarter-final last year and a 3-1 victory in the 2018 Champions League final, in which Gareth Bale scored two goals.

Picking the Champions League Winners

Liverpool's historic quadruple campaign came to an end in dramatic fashion over the weekend when they fell one point short of winning the Premier League, and how well they recover from that loss after a long, difficult season will be critical.

Liverpool's main challenge will be to defeat a team that doesn't appear to know the meaning of the word defeat. Karim Benzema's enormous experience, skill, and battling abilities have a lot to do with that reputation, and whether he wins or loses on Saturday, he will almost probably be named player of the tournament. The tactical nous of manager Carlo Ancelotti, is also vital. He is the first manager to win all five major European leagues three times, and if Real wins this weekend, he would create a new record with four Champions League titles.

He's also assembled a solid, reliable lineup. They have all they need to overcome any obstacle, and their ability to snare victory from the jaws of defeat is astonishing.

Everything is in place for a thrilling end-to-end battle between two intriguing clubs, as well as a fitting climax to the European season. I expect plenty of fireworks from both clubs this season, and I feel it will take longer to separate them.

Other Champions League Markets

Finals are usually tight affairs, with neither team wanting to make a mistake, but this one might be different. Both teams are used to playing in an attacking manner and are not known for their defensive abilities. Liverpool will go all out to attack, whilst Real's strength is their ability to recover from almost any position and win. Because this game is nearly certain to include goals, the Over 2.5 goals market appears to be a good pick for Champions League bettors.
