How we rank MLS betting sites

The OSB MLS sportsbook rankings are based on the features that matter most to soccer bettors. Rather than focusing on welcome bonuses alone, we evaluate each sportsbook’s overall betting experience throughout the MLS season, from regular season matches to the MLS Cup Playoffs. You can read more about our process in how we test sportsbooks.

Additionally, OSB prioritizes sportsbooks that consistently offer competitive MLS odds, a wide selection of betting markets, reliable live betting, and an easy-to-use mobile app. We also consider banking options, customer service, promotions, and each sportsbook’s overall reputation for security and reliability. Since no sportsbook excels in every category, the OSB rankings reflect the complete experience rather than a single feature.

The league started with ten teams and has seen rapid expansion since 1996, steadily adding clubs since 2005. As of the 2025 season, Major League Soccer features 30 teams, 27 based in the United States and 3 in Canada, divided evenly between the Eastern and Western Conferences.

MLS Cup futures, Playoffs and live betting

With Inter Miami and Vancouver Whitecaps coming off a historic MLS Cup Final, the league enters 2026 with two very different contenders setting the benchmark. Messi returns for his third full season at Inter Miami, keeping the spotlight firmly on a squad built for another title run, while Vancouver looks to build on their breakout campaign and prove their trip to the final was the start of a new era rather than a one-off surge.

Traditional powerhouses like Columbus Crew SC and FC Cincinnati remain firmly in the conversation, with strong cores and recent silverware proving they’re still among the most dangerous sides in the league. Meanwhile, rising clubs such as St. Louis City SC continue to reshape expectations, bringing even more parity and unpredictability to the standings.

With two strong finalists returning, established contenders loading up again, and up-and-coming teams closing the gap, the 2026 MLS season promises another wide-open, highly competitive campaign.

Now, we are seeing packed MLS stadiums, with the sport bringing in the third-highest average attendance in professional North American sports (behind the NFL and MLB). With the continued expansion of the league over the past few decades, MLS soccer betting has followed suit and become a huge sports betting market.

As with other major North American sports, oddsmakers now offer MLS betting odds on every match throughout the season. Each of the 30 MLS teams plays 34 regular-season games, creating more than 500 total betting opportunities each year, not including playoffs or MLS Cup futures. Every match comes packed with markets like moneylines, totals, and player props, all of which we’ll outline below.

You can find a variety of excellent MLS betting tips on our site as our experts dig into each game throughout the long season. They will highlight specific MLS betting lines that offer value, matching them to the best online odds providers. With the help of our in-house betting experts, sports fans and bettors can make the MLS best bets for the upcoming games and future lines.

When assessing MLS betting odds, we also look at travel distances, home advantage, turf versus grass, roster rotation, international call-ups, transfers, weather, and schedule congestion.

The MLS Cup is the “Super Bowl” of the MLS. It is played after the regular season and the MLS Playoffs.

Where can I bet on MLS in the U.S.?

Legal MLS betting is available through licensed online sportsbooks in many U.S. states, but availability depends on where you are located. Before placing a wager, confirm that online sports betting is legal in your state and that you are using a regulated sportsbook. Of course, pages like the OSB US online sports betting guides are must-read resources for topics like this. Most legal sportsbooks require bettors to be at least 21 years old, although some jurisdictions permit sports betting at age 18. During registration, you will also be asked to verify your identity before placing wagers.

Additionally, sportsbooks use geolocation technology to confirm you are physically located inside a state where online sports betting is permitted. Even if you live in a legal state, you will generally need to be within state lines when placing a wager. Online sportsbooks now offer extensive MLS betting markets, including regular season matches, live betting, player props, and MLS Cup futures. Available markets may vary slightly by sportsbook, but most major sportsbooks provide comprehensive MLS coverage throughout the season.

Compliance note

Sports betting laws vary by state. Always verify that online sports betting is legal where you are located before creating an account or placing an MLS wager.

MLS sportsbooks offer a wide variety of betting markets before kickoff and throughout each match. While three-way moneylines remain the most common wager, bettors can also select from goal matchups, totals, player props, BTTS markets, live betting, and also season-long MLS Cup futures. The best betting market depends on the matchup, team form, and your preferred wagering style.

Three-way moneyline

Handicap/spread betting

Over/under or totals betting

Other popular MLS betting markets

If you’ve bet on other sports, you may be used to the regular moneyline style where there are two teams, and you have to select the winner between those two. The three-way moneyline adds another important game factor when it comes to betting on soccer games: the draw.

The draw will always have the highest odds, followed by the underdog, then you will have the favored team with the lowest odds.

Here’s an example of a three-way moneyline at an MLS game:

Nashville SC -150 Orlando City SC +250 Draw +300

In this case, Nashville is favored to win this match, and Orlando City is the underdog.

Soccer spreads closely resemble traditional pro sport point spreads, but are called goal lines because soccer is a sport that doesn’t use points for scoring; rather, they use goals. Rather than simply picking the winner, bettors wager on whether a team can cover the assigned goal spread.

As an example:

Nashville SC -1.5 Orlando City SC +1.5

A Nashville bet only wins if they win by two or more goals, while Orlando covers if it wins outright, draws, or loses by a single goal. Handicap betting is especially common when elite MLS clubs face rebuilding teams.

Totals are a bit different in soccer than you may be used to if you’re used to betting on basketball or baseball. Totals betting in this instance focuses on the combined number of goals scored rather than the match winner. The most common MLS total is 2.5 goals, although sportsbooks may also offer 2.75, 3.0, or other alternate totals.

For example:

Over 2.5 Under 2.5

If three or more goals are scored, the Over cashes. Two goals or fewer means the Under wins. Since MLS has historically averaged close to three goals per match, totals remain one of the league’s most popular betting markets.

Beyond the primary markets above, sportsbooks also offer numerous specialty wagers throughout the MLS season.

Boths Teams to Score (BTTS: Predict whether both clubs will score at least one goal. Draw No Bet: Removes the draw as an outcome, with wagers refunded if the match finishes level. Player Props: Bet on anytime goalscorers, assists, shots on target, saves, and other individual statistics. Corners and Cards: Wager on total corner kicks, yellow cards, red cards, and disciplinary markets. MLS Cup Futures: Bet on the MLS Cup winner, conference champions, Golden Boot, Supporters’ Shield, and playoff qualification before or during the season. Live Betting: Odds update continuously after goals, substitutions, injuries, red cards, and momentum swings, creating additional wagering opportunities throughout the match.

MLS Cup futures, playoffs, and live betting

Let’s take a look at the different betting types available for MLS betting.

MLS futures

Each year, odds are released months and months before the season even begins, and they’re called MLS Futures. They are wagers you’d place on the team to win the MLS Cup, but you are placing them far in advance to garner the best odds possible. These odds are high, so much so that if you do correctly predict the winner of the following year’s MLS Cup, you could be looking at thousands of dollars in winnings.

There are always favored teams to win the next year – usually powerhouse teams, but we all know too well that sometimes there are upsets and an underdog could win the MLS Cup, which is really what every sports bettor dreams of.

Oddsmakers don’t just stop at the MLS Cup; they also offer odds on the winners of each respective conference in the East and West. Another interesting futures wager you can place on the MLS is to bet on the Golden Boot award winner. The Golden Boot is the award given to the league’s top scorer during the season. It would likely be pure guesswork, because it would be so hard to predict who will have an exceptional season, especially with injuries and new talent coming into the league.

MLS Playoff betting

As the regular season winds down, sportsbooks begin offering additional postseason markets beyond simply betting on the MLS Cup winner. Bettors can wager on whether teams will qualify for the playoffs, win the Eastern or Western Conference, reach the MLS Cup Final, or advance through individual knockout rounds. Because MLS uses a playoff format rather than awarding the championship solely based on regular season points, these markets can provide value when a club is peaking late in the season or receives a favorable postseason draw.

Live betting

Live wagering has become one of the fastest-growing MLS wagering options because odds continuously adjust throughout a match. A goal, red card, penalty, or even sustained attacking pressure can dramatically shift moneyline, total goals, and BTTS markets. Since soccer is a relatively low-scoring sport, timing is especially important, and bettors often wait for live opportunities instead of placing every wager before kickoff. Understanding game flow and momentum can sometimes create better value than the pre-match market alone.

MLS betting tips

Every bettor has their own tricks and ways to make the best of their wagers, so let’s take a look at what the in-house experts at OSB have for MLS bettors.

Pay attention to turf versus grass

Several MLS clubs play on artificial turf while others use natural grass. Some teams and players have historically performed better on one surface than the other, making pitch conditions another factor worth considering before placing a wager.

Monitor roster rotation and international call-ups

MLS clubs can lose key players during FIFA international windows, while fixture congestion may also lead to squad rotation. Always confirm starting lineups and injury reports before kickoff, especially when betting player props or live markets.

Follow transfer activity throughout the season

Unlike many European leagues, MLS roster rules allow teams to improve significantly through Designated Player signings, summer transfers, and U22 Initiative additions. A single high-profile acquisition can quickly influence both match odds and MLS Cup futures.

Consider weather and scheduling

Summer matches are frequently played in high heat, humidity, or heavy rain, which can influence scoring and match tempo. Teams competing in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, or U.S. Open Cup may also rotate players, creating additional betting value for informed bettors.

MLS betting strategy checklist

Before placing an MLS wager, consider the following:

  • Check recent team form, not just season-long records.
  • Compare home and away performance, as MLS clubs often play much differently at home.
  • Review injury reports, suspensions, and confirmed starting lineups.
  • Monitor FIFA International call-ups and roster rotation.
  • Consider travel distance and short turnaround times between matches.
  • Check whether the match is being played on natural grass or artificial turf.
  • Watch for recent transfers or Designated Player signings that could impact team strength.
  • Factor in weather conditions such as extreme heat, humidity, or heavy rain.
  • Compare odds across multiple sportsbooks before placing your bet.
  • Stick to a bankroll and never chase losses.

Problem gambling help & responsible betting

Sports betting should always be viewed as a form of entertainment rather than a way to earn income. Never wager more than you can comfortably afford to lose, and consider setting deposit or time limits if you bet regularly. If gambling is becoming stressful or affecting your finances or relationships, confidential help is available.
