Best-Value Champions League Winner Bets

Manchester City (+330)

Absolute favorites are seldom bad bets. Manchester City is no different.

Seriously: Can you say powerhouse? Manchester City has won five trophies over the past two seasons, including consecutive Premiere League titles. Capping off their could-be dynasty with a Champions League title is their next step.

Believe us when we say they can get there. Manchester City was stacked to begin with, even if full-back Kyle Walker, a strong leader on the team, is reluctant to admit it. Now they went out and spent a boatload of money on Rodrigo. This is an offense that’s going to hum.

Liverpool (+600)

Don’t sleep on the reigning champs this season. They’re offering great value at +600.

Last year’s victory for Liverpool was sort of a Cinderella Story. They weren’t supposed to be there. Barcelona and Lionel Messi had them on the ropes in the second-leg of their semifinal matchup. Liverpool came storming back from a 3-0 deficit to win and eventually went on to nab the title. That team was magic.

Maintaining last season’s momentum shouldn’t prove too difficult. Liverpool is returning largely the same team, and continuity is paramount to enduring contention—especially for the defending champs, who find themselves in a very tough Group E.

Juventus (+1100)

Underdog-like Champions League betting odds for Juventus? Sign us all the way up.

Juventus has become the trendy champion-winning pick for many analysts. Don’t be afraid to embrace the fad. Their roster is positively stacked; they have elite-level contributors at nearly every position.

Some of Juventus’ biggest names include Matthijs de Ligt, Miralem Pjanic and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo. They also have one of the best reserves in the world in winger Fernando Bernardeschi.

Building rosters with both star power and enviable depth is ridiculously difficult. With their current odds, Juventus is presenting a potentially profitable opportunity for Champions League Bettors.

Bayern Munich (+1200)

Although Bayern Munich is playing in a difficult Group B, they have the complementary talent to make a really enthralling run.

Attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho arms them with a bonafide superstar, one who has preternatural vision and passing abilities. Placing him alongside Robert Lewandowski is almost unfair to opposing defenses.

Tottenham is pretty much the only Group B contender they need to worry about, though as we alluded to earlier, there is some depth in this division.

Bayern Munich isn’t a sure thing by any measure, but they have the offensive firepower to take first during Group play, and after that, anything’s possible.

Tottenham (+2500)

Tottenham isn’t getting a lot of love. That’s sort of fair. They haven’t looked particularly great. At the same time, they have the talent to transcend their struggles.

Let’s not forget: Tottenham made it all the way to the Championship League Final last year. They forfeited an early goal to Mohamed Salah that effectively sealed their fate, but they were still there. And they’ve only bolstered the squad since then.

The additions of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon should end up being huge, and they still have incumbents Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Toby AlderWeireld and Heung-Min Son, the latter of whom is one of the most underrated players in the world.

Champions League Winner Prediction

Our winner is…Manchester City.

Look, it isn’t the dare-to-be great pick. We’d be going with Juventus in that case. And make no mistake, they are fair game.

But Manchester City is built like a genuine powerhouse, with a nice blend of big names and depth. They are the only club with a better than 95 percent chance of making it to the Round of 16, according to FiveThirtyEight’s projection model

Another top possible option in addition to Manchester City and Juventus is Bayern Munich. They may end up being the best team during group play, and they have the second-highest probability, behind Manchester City, of making it to the quarterfinals.

Barcelona and Real Madrid can and should be on a lot of bettors’ radars. But unless both of their odds end up returning better than 10-to-1 money, we’re not quite enamored by the risk-reward tradeoff.

And while Manchester City’s odds aren’t any richer, they have the benefit of being an absolute juggernaut with very few functional weaknesses across their depth chart.
