On August 28, 2017, the fight between Kubrat Pulev and Anthony Joshua's card was announced. The fight was scheduled to take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which seats up to 80,000 spectators. The card will be stacked with the best young stars in boxing, and there will be plenty of boxing betting opportunities to bet on.
There have been some serious bumps along the road over the past three years. No. 1 ranked Bulgarian fighter, Kubrat Pulev is a mandatory opponent for Anthony Joshua, announced in August 2017 after Joshua’s fight with Klitschko retired from boxing, cancelling their fight, and putting these fighters on each other’s paths.
Within one day of the event being announced, over 70,000 tickets were sold - the fastest-selling event in boxing. The Principality Stadium in Cardiff also has the largest indoor capacity of any event in boxing.
Of course, after the fight was announced, rumours circulated that Pulev suffered a shoulder injury while sparring, and Pulev’s team hid the injury from the IBF for a little over a week. Carlos Takam was tapped to replace Pulev with 12 days' notice.
In Cardiff, the fight between Joshua and Takam was stopped prematurely by the referee in round ten with 1:34 on the clock. At the time of the stoppage, two judges had Joshua ahead at 89-81, and another with 90-80. Since then, he has claimed victory in three other fights but suffered his first loss against Andy Ruiz Jr. on June 1, 2019. His record currently sits at 23-1.
Finally, on March 2, 2020, the official announcement of the Pulev vs. Joshua fight was rescheduled. On June 20, 2020, the fighters are scheduled for a match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
With all sports essentially being cancelled right now, and especially Premier League being delayed, Tottenham may need the stadium, the world had hoped the June 20th fight date would go ahead.
However, the June 20 event has been cancelled, with the organizers rescheduling for December 12th, 2020 at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

Joshua Vs. Pulev Tale of the Tape
Pulev vs. Joshua Odds
|Pulev vs. Joshua Odds|
The oddsmakers are deeply favoring Joshua for this matchup. Many might say this match will be highly underwhelming for Joshua, as he should win easily, without a hitch. If you are liking the looks of Pulev winning, the odds in the +750 range are pretty great for an underdog.
Anything could happen, and with Joshua losing his first fight in December, betting on Pulev could be on a lot of sports bettor’s minds right now.
Result of Pulev’s Victory
What would happen if Pulev wins? As you know, Joshua is defending his IBF heavyweight title, and a loss to Pulev could be a huge issue in terms of his career trajectory. Between a loss to Pulev and the loss to Andy Ruiz Jr., many would suggest his time at the top is over.
Tyson Fury and Wilder will be fighting sometime this summer, and a Fury victory could fast track an opponent for Joshua for sometime in December. But, a loss to Pulev could throw a huge wrench in the hopes of ever seeing a Joshua vs Fury fight, and likely - Joshua could retire.
There is a lot riding on the outcome of these two fights, and Joshua has to win to keep the momentum going.
Will there be a Knockout?
Everyone loves betting on a knockout method of victory. When it comes to betting on boxing props like the method of victory, you have quite a few different options, and the odds are juiced up due to the low probability of winning your bet. However, we are guessing many will be looking for the KO betting odds since Joshua has been insisting he will KO Pulev in the 11th round.
Can he see the future? Does he have it all mapped out? Whatever the case may be, he’s gift-wrapping a prop bet for you and many likely will take the bait.
Pulev hasn’t had a big win in some time, his last few fights have been against Chisora and Tyson Fury’s cousin Hughie. His only loss was to Klitschko in 2014, and he hasn’t really faced a tough competitor since then. He’s older, and the odds of him winning by knockout are slim, to say the least. So we wouldn’t even suggest looking at that bet. Our suggestion if you are planning to bet on the method of victory is taking Joshua by KO, TKO or DQ.
|Method of Victory Props|
|Joshua by KO, TKO or DQ||-250|
|Pulev by KO, TKO or DQ||+800|
|Joshua by Decision||+275|
|Pulev by Decision||+2200|
