Harbour Town's RBC Heritage has been held in April after the Masters almost every year since 1983. While it was once a low-key event with top players taking a break after Augusta, this year's RBC Heritage is more prominent, featuring a majority of the biggest names and a $20 million purse.

The Course

Harbour Town Golf Links measures just over 7,200 yards and is a par 71 course that rewards finesse over length. Players who excel at ball striking and iron accuracy will stay ahead on the leaderboard, as the Bermudagrass greens are among the smallest on the PGA Tour, averaging just 3,600 square feet.

These greens are twice as small as Augusta National and four times smaller than the links courses overseas, meaning that errant tee shots will create significant problems.

The fairways, rough, and greens all feature overseeded Bermudagrass, with the greens running at around 12.5 feet via the Stimpmeter. Although it's not as fast as the Bentgrass surfaces at Augusta, it still offers enough pace to get chips and long putts into the hole.

The narrow fairways are lined with low-hanging trees, and water hazards are prevalent on the par 3s. Harbour Town was designed by golf architect Pete Dye and golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

Harbour Town has hosted the RBC Heritage for more than five decades. Recently, sand bunkers were strengthened, and some holes were extended to create additional challenges.

Best Bets To Win 2023 RBC Heritage

Betting on golf is different than betting on other sports. I'd recommend checking out some of our betting strategies to take maximize your winnings. Unlike other sports, you don't want to usually put all of your eggs in one basket and bet on only one player to win.

After one bad round, your bet could be lost. One of the smartest strategies when betting on golf is to take multiple shots at picking a winner. With that in mind, here are our top choices for golfers who could win the 2023 RBC Heritage Tournament.

Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler, the World No.1, is debuting at Harbour Town this week. Despite his T10 finish at the Masters, Scheffler has won twice and has not finished below T12 since the CJ Cup in October.

He is the favorite at this tournament for a reason. His odds of +850 are very tempting due to his top-ranked strokes gained tee-to-green. While a course debut may be risky to bet on, Scheffler's strong iron play at Augusta should carry over to this event.

My concern when backing Scheffler or any player that performed well at Augusta is the fatigue factor. These guys are playing more golf than they've ever played before and many could use a break, which is why Rory withdrew from this event.

While I understand Scheffler is the favorite and arguably the top player in the world right now, I would not recommend betting on Scottie Scheffler to win the 2023 RBC Heritage tournament.

Patrick Cantlay

Cantlay fell short to Jordan Spieth in a playoff at Harbour Town last year, despite three rounds under par. At 31, Cantlay ranks highly in par 5 scorings, putting from 3 feet, and scrambling from the fringe. His iron play, ranked sixth in total strokes gained and seventh in tee-to-green, sets him apart.

He ranks second in total driving, combining accuracy and distance. Equipped with a reliable putter, he is poised to make many birdies at the RBC Heritage. Cantlay is a strong contender due to his successful history at the event. He has prior finishes of second, missed cut, tied for third, and tied for seventh.

He has the third-best odds in the tournament at +1100 and I would recommend betting on Patrick Cantlay to win the 2023 RBC Heritage.

Justin Thomas

I am expecting Thomas to perform well this week after missing the cut at the Masters last week. The added time should allow him to rest and he has two top-12 finishes at Heritage.

His elite tee-to-green game is an advantage on the small greens at Harbour Town, where his putting struggles should be less of a concern. The value that oddsmakers are giving Justin Thomas feels like a mistake.

I love betting on good golfers to rebound after a tough week. His odds are +2500 which is remarkable value.

I would absolutely recommend betting on Justin Thomas to win the 2023 RBC Heritage tournament.
