2022 US Open Free Golf Betting Picks; Four men all in with a chance at Brookline

This week 156 of the world’s top golfers will assemble in Brookline for the third golfing major of the year, here we preview the event and bring you our free 2022 US Open betting picks.

Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas are the headline names at this year’s open. But with events elsewhere threatening to overshadow the showpiece of US golf, the competition looks set to take place against a backdrop of arguments and uncertainty.

What will happen to some of the big names who have just taken part in the LIV London event remains to be seen. But whatever the fate of those players, it can’t detract from the play at Brookline, in what still promises to be a great spectacle.

The favourite for the event is in-form Irishman Rory McIlroy, at +1100 with the leading online golf betting sites.

McIlroy has been a consistent presence on leaderboards all season, and with a 2nd place at the US Masters and an 8th place at the US PGA Championship, he is again looking threatening at majors.

His form suggests he could be on the verge of adding to his four.

After McIlroy is Scottie Scheffler. The World Number 1 has already won the US Masters¡ this year and is the betting favourite with BetOnline at +1200¡.

Justin Thomas is available at +1600. He has just won the US PGA Championship, the second major of his career.

The 29-year-old American is in good form this year and should be entering his prime. His self-belief has now returned, and his game clearly has the quality to add to the two career majors he has won to date.

Also among the favorites is Jon Rahm. Rahm won this event last year and finished 2021 as the world's number one ranked player.

Things haven’t gone to plan this year, and Rahm has lost his top ranking. Maybe defending his title this week could get his juices flowing again. Rahm is available at +1600.

2022 US Open; What You Need To Know

The 2022 US Open is at The Country Club course in Brookline. This will be only the fourth time the event will be held here. The first was in 1913, and the last in 1988, when Curtis Strange defeated Nick Faldo in a playoff.

The course is 7,033 yards long with a par of 71. The record lowest round ever shot here is 64.

    • Where; Brookline, Massachusetts, USA
    • Course; The Country Club

Right then, let’s get on with some picks. First up, the latest betting on the US Open Golf Championship.

has changed in the past couple of days. Before winning the RBS Canadian Open, Rory McIlroy was the second favorite behind Scottie Scheffler.

That has now changed with McIlroy defending the title he won last year. And it’s with McIlroy that we start our free US Open picks.

    Rory McIlroy @ +1100

Rory is in the zone, he seems annoyed with Greg Norman and LIV Golf, and I get the feeling he wants to try and ram home his views about the breakaway golf tour. There’s no better way to make your point strongly, than from the winner's podium.

I don’t normally like picking players who have just won, but McIlroy has been sensational these last few weeks. It would be mad to ignore him.

    Sam Burns @ +2800

Burns is yet another sensational young golfer emerging from the American conveyor belt seemingly churning out player after player over the past few years.

He’s just finished T4 in Canada, and already this season has won the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Valspar Championship. At +2800 he is well worth wagering on.

    Tony Finau @ +3500

Finau was +5000 this time last week, but an impressive showing at the RBC last week has seen his odds slashed to +3500.

He finished second in Canada, shooting just 126 across the final two rounds; if he brings that form south of the border with him, he has to have a chance of landing his first major.

    Max Homa @ +5000

Another not-so-obvious pick, but look at Homa’s form of late. He finished fifth at the recent Muirfield Memorial Tournament and also won the Wells Fargo at the start of May.

Homa is up to 23rd in the world, his highest career world ranking. Do I see him beating McIlroy coming up the home straight on Sunday, level pegging? Probably not. But at odds of +5000, I think Max Homa is well worth a small wager this week.
