Hero World Challenge Picks: Victor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler Among The Favorites
  • What: Hero World Challenge
  • When: Thursday, November 30th to Sunday, December 3rd
  • Where: Albany Golf Club, Bahamas

Tiger Woods officially returns to the PGA Tour for the first time since Augusta when he suits up at the upcoming Hero World Challenge, which runs Thursday through Sunday in the Bahamas at the Albany Golf Club. This is a Tiger event which he holds every year. While it's considered a PGA Tour tournament, it's an unofficial event, which means no points go towards the FedEx Cup standings. There's 20 names in total who will play in the Bahamas, with Viktor Hovland (+400), Scottie Scheffler (+450), and Max Homa (+800). Other notable players include Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, and Cameron Young. Continue reading for the Hero World Challenge picks.

Viktor Hovland has won this tournament in back-to-back years while Scottie Scheffler was also runner-up in 2021 and 2022, hence their favorable odds. This is the 24th edition, although it's had different names over the years. Woods is a four-time winner of his own tournament but don't expect him to be contending here after so many months away from golf.

Viktor Hovland (+400)

Hovland finished -16 under par last year and beat Scheffler by two strokes. The Norwegian is one of the best golfers on the PGA Tour and currently sits first in the FedEx Cup standings, notching two wins in his last four world events. Hovland played a key part in helping Team Europe capture the Ryder Cup and he also took home top spot at the BMW Championship. Overall, Hovland has three PGA wins, one runner-up, and nine top-10 finishes this season. To many, he's arguably the top golfer in the world right now. Hovland a deserving favorite to make it a three-peat this weekend in the Bahamas.

Scottie Scheffler (+450)

Scheffler is in fantastic form and is actually the No. 1 ranked golfer on the globe right now. While he hasn't played much since the Ryder Cup, Scheffler has two wins, two runners-up, and 17 top-10 finishes in 2022-23. He won the Phoenix Open and the PLAYERS Championship while finishing 20th at The Masters, third at the Scottish Open, and third at the US Open. For the big events, Scheffler turns up. As previously mentioned, he was in the mix in the Hero World Challenge picks the last two years and should be again, despite the time off over the last month.

Max Homa (+800)

Homa is ninth in the FedEx Cup standings and has played in 25 PGA events this season, winning two tournaments, finishing second once, and also finishing top-10 on 13 occasions. Homa's best performance came at the Farmer's Insurance Open in January, finishing -13. He was 17th at the Herro World Challenge a year ago and just won his latest event on the DP World Tour.

Collin Morikawa (+800)

Morikawa is also playing well and has a history of success at this tournament. He was fifth in 2021 and sixth last year. He also just won the first annual Zozo Championship in Japan, which means Morikawa has much-needed momentum heading into the Bahamas. He has the fourth-best odds to win this weekend. Worth a look.

Justin Thomas (+1400)

Thomas has been an elite talent on the PGA Tour for many years now, hence why he's got the fifth-best odds at the Hero World Challenge. However, it's been a pretty miserable year for the veteran. He missed the cut at three majors and won't make the FedEx Cup playoffs. A win in the Bahamas won't make up for his struggles, but Thomas can at least finish the season on a bit of a high note.

Tiger Woods Win?

Yes, Tiger has the worst odds of the entire field at +6500. He is a massive longshot to pull off the unthinkable. Health is still a major issue for Tiger, who has finished 45th or worse in all five of the events he's participated in since 2022. You simply cannot expect much out of Woods here, but it would be a thrill to see him win it. With just 19 other golfers to compete with, who knows what could happen. Regardless, it's just nice to see the legend back out there doing what he loves to do.

Hero World Challenge Picks

Another win for Hovland at the Hero World Challenge? He definitely has what it takes and doesn't lack confidence lately. It's worth a bet.
