The Baltimore Orioles are an Major League Baseball American league East Division team who have been known as three other names since being established in 1901. Its first year in professional baseball saw them called the Milwaukee Brewers before they moved to St. Louis and became the St. Louis Browns. Fifty-two years later, they moved to Baltimore where they became the Baltimore Orioles, and gained the nickname the “O’s” and the “Birds.”Baltimore Orioles enjoyed most of their success between 1964 and 1983.
During that time they won seven of their nine division championships, and all three of their World Series championships.
Fast forward to the present day and Baltimore Orioles finished the 2015 season with an 81-81 (.500) record, which pitched them in third place in the American League East, and 16th in the MLB overall.
It was during this season that the Orioles played a game, against the Chicago White Sox, behind closed doors due to the violent riots in Baltimore in April. This gave them the record of the lowest paid attendance to an official game in the history of MLB – the previous record that stood for 131-years was six spectators.

2015 was a modest season for the Orioles, one that saw them go 47-31 at home and 34-50 away. Perhaps the biggest boost Orioles fans received was the franchise holding onto first baseman Chris Davis and catcher Matt Wieters in the winter months.
The Birds have some big hitters in the roster. The aforementioned Davis hit 47 home runs last season, while Manny Machado (35), Adam Jones (27), Pedro Alvarez (27), and Mark Trumbo (22) all hit more than 20. Bear this in mind when you are looking to bet on the Baltimore Orioles.
Will Raw Power Be Enough for the Baltimore Orioles
There is no denying that the Baltimore Orioles have one of the more powerful batting rosters in the MLB, but that can only get you so far, especially in a campaign spread across 162 games.
It is common knowledge that the Orioles rotation of starting pitchers is not the best, and is unlikely to strike fear into anyone facing them. The Orioles need a great season from Chris Tillman, who earned All-Star honors in 2013, if they are to repeat last season’s third place finish.
