In total, there are 84 contestants for the 2023 pageant. Yes, all 84 have their own betting line to win the event too. This will mark the 72nd Miss Universe event in history.

The 2023 format is par for the course. The initial list of women will be whittled down via fan votes and a preliminary competition (that isn’t aired on TV). Of the 20 that survive this cutdown, all will be on the runway wearing a swimsuit. Ten advance to the evening-gown competition followed by the final five for the interview round. After all this, a winner will be crowned. Speaking of which, let’s call out a few names that’ll likely be in the final running.

2023 Miss Universe Betting Candidates

We don’t expect you to read the bios of all 84 competitors. No way — that’s our job. After pouring through the list of participants, we’ve confidently settled on a few Miss Universe betting candidates. We’ll give you our exact pick to win soon, but you’ll want to keep an eye out for the following names and faces:

Miss Philippines

Michelle Marquez Dee is representing the Philippines and she’s the runaway betting favorite to win the event. We mean, +400 odds are pretty darn good for a field that includes 84.

Miss Philippines checks all the boxes you want out of a contest: stunningly beautiful, outgoing (she’s a TV host and actress on the side), supports a great cause (autism because her brothers suffer from it), and yes, somewhat woke. Woke will be a linchpin of our betting choices, as well explain as we go along. The thing about Miss Philippines is she’s openly bi-sexual and is currently dating a woman. Brownie points secured!

Miss USA

We know a lot of bettors hail from the United States so for those readers, you’ll be happy to know the USA has a strong contender in Noelia Voigt. She has Venezuelan blood and is an absolute looker.

Miss USA is a usual contender at these shows and even is the reigning champion — controversy so. You see, the 2022 Miss Universe champ was none other than R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States. However, her initial win at the Miss USA stage was tainted on the basis of “wokeness.”

Miss USA contestant Mikala McGhee of Missouri (and others) accused the event organizers of “fixing” the win for Gabriel. Per the complaints, the organizers wanted Gabriel to win and make history as the first American-Filipino winner of the event. The allegations were never 100 percent proven, but the Miss Universe organizers did suspend the Miss USA ones so that should tell you it was somewhat true at the very least.

Miss Netherlands

Alright, here’s where things get really “woke.” Miss Netherlands is 22-year-old Rikkie Kolle. Rikkie used to be Rik, and well, used to be a male. Yes, she’s transgender. Miss Portugal is the second trans competitor in the 2023 event.

Both trans participants will be under a spotlight come event time. That’s because biological males turned females competing against other women is a hot-button discussion right now. We’ve seen it arise in athletic competitions, and now it’s in beauty pageants too. And as you’re about to find out, the topic of transgenderism is especially relevant to this show.

Best Bet To Win 2023 Miss Universe

Before we lay down our bet on the 2023 Miss Universe winner, it’s important to remember who owns this thing. Once upon a time, Donald Trump owned Miss Universe. Today it’s a person named Anne Jakrajutatip. Who is Jakrajutatip? Welp, a trans person. Jakrajutatip went viral for her trans speech at this event a year ago if you remember.

All this leads us to put money on the two trans competitors — Miss Netherlands and Miss Portugal. Like it or not, wokeness is a leading factor in these types of awards and competitions that are highly subjective. And when the lead organizer is trans too, that tells us more than enough about how this will go. Throw money on both candidates and let the better-woke narrative prevail.
