Sunday, October 9th is race #32 of the NASCAR Cup Series season and the next one up in the Playoffs Round of 12, with the green flag expected to drop at 2 PM ET. Charlotte Motor Speedway is the scene for the Bank of America Roval 400, with Chase Elliott the betting favorite. The regular season winner jumped back to the top of the playoff standings after winning the YellaWood 500 at Talladega in impressive fashion. Elliott is sitting at +400 here, followed by Tyler Reddick (+600), Kyle Larson (+800), and AJ Allmendinger (+1200). Continue reading for the Bank of America Roval 400 picks.

What You Need to Know

This is a 248-mile speedway, with a 25-25-59 lap sequence for the three stages. Chase Elliott won in both 2019 and 2020, but Kyle Larson was the top dog last season, which proved to be the beginning of a phenomenal run to the playoff crown for the veteran. This is the final race of the Round of 12. Next weekend will go down to eight drivers.

Bank of America Roval 400 Betting Preview

Elliott was struggling for a bit at the beginning of the postseason, but he responded in a big way at Talladega. Last Sunday was his fifth win of the year, beating out Ryan Blaney. He also finished in second place in Bristol just a few weeks ago and has been easily the most consistent driver throughout the entire campaign. Of course, Elliott is very familiar with winning at Charlotte. When he finished in top spot in 2020, that was the same year he was crowned champ. Elliott was 12th in this race last year. However, considering the form he's currently in, you simply cannot count the 26-year-old out. He's truly that good.

Reddick struggled at Talladega but did win in Texas the week prior to that. He did have some success in Charlotte a season ago, finishing as runner-up to Larson. This has been a breakout year for Reddick and he continues to look like the future of NASCAR, but it's a bit surprising his odds are so favorable here in the Bank of America Roval 400 picks. Reddick is already out of the mix for the championship, therefore he doesn't exactly have a lot to motivate him except for pride.

Larson is definitely a driver you cannot overlook here. He's familiar with Charlotte and the reigning winner. Sure, he's not enjoyed the same success in 2022, but Larson is still a threat to win. He hasn't notched many victories this season though. That being said, Larson is almost always in the mix. Perhaps this is the time he finishes as top dog. The odds are solid. He also won the most recent road course at Watkins Glen. That's a positive sign.

Allmendinger isn't usually one of the favorites to win in the Cup Series, but there is a clear reason he's a contender here. Allmendinger has won three Xfinity Series races in a row at Charlotte, which has some thinking he could do something special come Sunday in the Cup Series. He will be feeling no shortage of confidence on this speedway and tends to race well on road courses.

Daniel Suarez is another guy to keep an eye on. He finished in eighth at Talladega and placed fifth in the last road course at Watkins Glen. He currently sits in eighth in the playoff standings as well and should make it through to the next round, barring a disaster on Sunday. He's 12 points above the bubble and could be a viable option in the Bank of America Roval 400 picks, but more for a specific bet.

Final Picks

It's pretty rare a driver wins back-to-back races, which is why I'm not picking Chase Elliott. I do think he'll finish top five, though. The pick has to be Kyle Larson. He's great on the road course and is the defending champ. I also like Suarez to finish top-five as he solidifies his place in the final eight.
