Cornhuskers vs Wolverines

Michigan is a 2.5-point road favorite on Saturday and the OVER/UNDER is set at 45 points. Nebraska is coming off blowout wins over Akron and Houston Christian, outscoring their opponents 127 to 7. However, they have lost 25 consecutive games to ranked opponents. Additionally, head coach Matt Rhule is 2-28 versus ranked teams in his career while never beating a ranked Power Four team.

True freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood bounced back from a Week 2 defeat at Oklahoma. The former No. 1-ranked recruit in the nation passed for 235 yards and rushed for 114, totaling 3 touchdowns, in the Wolverines' 63-3 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday.

Quarterback Matchup

Bryce Underwood isn't the only top recruit in Saturday's contest. Dylan Raiola, the No. 3 quarterback in the class of 2024, has completed 72-of-94 passes for 829 yards and eight TDs through three games.

In comparison, Underwood has passed for two TDs and one interception while carrying the ball 14 times for 108 yards and two scores. He'll be without his head coach for this one as Sherrone Moore serves a suspension due to the Wolverines' sign-stealing scandal.

Big Ten Rivalry Game

Michigan is 8-4-1 all-time against the Cornhuskers, with four-straight wins including a 45-7 beatdown in 2023 during Rhule’s first season as head coach.

Nebraska hasn't defeated a ranked team since 2016. They're also 0-5 in their last five conference openers with their last victory coming in 2019.The Huskers' last W versus the Wolverines came in 2013 in Ann Arbor. However, if they are 4-0 after Saturday, they could be favorites to go to the College Football Playoff.

U-M is 1-2 against the spread this year, failing to cover in its season-opening victory over New Mexico and in a loss at Oklahoma. Nebraska is 2-1 ATS, failing to cover the six-point spread in its 20-17 season-opening win over Cincinnati.

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Michigan Wolverines Picks

This is a tough spot for Michigan. After not playing well in Normand two weeks ago, the Wolverines will have to deal with a raucous crowd at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln without head coach Sherrone Moore.

While it's difficult to tell just how good the Cornhuskers are after beating up on three inferior opponents, there's no doubt the program is on the upswing in year 3 under Matt Rhule. Take Nebraska to cover (+2.5) and win (+115) with the OVER 45.
