The Buffaloes are the slim favorite here with -130 moneyline odds at home. The Cornhuskers come back at +150. As for the spread, Colorado is laying just three points with odds of -112. The total in points is set at 57.5, which is relatively high. There is a well-known rivalry between these two programs, with the Buffaloes winning the last two meetings. But, it's been four years since they went to battle on the gridiron.

Nebraska Looking to Bounce Back

Matt Rhule took over this Huskers program in the hopes of getting them back to one of the elite teams in the Big Ten after going just 4-8 in 2022. Unfortunately, they didn't get off to the best start against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. To be brutally honest, this was a pretty terrible game for both teams offensively. Minnesota had a 3-0 lead at halftime and didn't really score any points until the fourth.

The Nebraska offense struggled to produce much. Quarterback Jeff Sims was off, completing 11 of 19 passes for a mere 114 yards, three interceptions, and just one touchdown. The Huskers managed to do a bit of damage with their running game as Gabe Ervin rushed for more than seven yards per carry, but it didn't exactly translate into points.

Nevertheless, Nebraska had their chances to win. They had a 10-3 lead with only minutes left in the fourth before the Golden Gophers scored a touchdown then notched an interception which set up a game-winning field goal. It was the worst possible way for their season opener to end and you better believe Rhule and Co. will be motivated to bounce back against an opponent with the utmost confidence. And for what it's worth, they lead the all-time series against Colorado 49-20-2.

Colorado Makes Statement

The Deion Sanders effect is real. Although there were a ton of question marks surrounding this program that went just 1-11 last season, Primetime came in, revamped the roster with over 60 new players, and just announced himself to the nation on Saturday. Facing a TCU squad that just made the title game in January, Colorado rolled into Fort Worth and won 45-42 in what will likely end up being the most entertaining game of the season.

Shedeur Sanders, the son of the NFL legend, absolutely balled out in his debut, becoming the first player in program history to throw for over 500 yards. He was 38 for 47 for 510 yards and four touchdowns. Electric. Out wide, four different pass-catchers had 100+ yards receiving. That's just something you don't see every day. Then, the real star of the show: Travis Hunter.

Hunter played a mind-boggling 119 snaps, showing out at WR and cornerback. The man was all over the field and had the entire sports world going nuts and screaming Heisman. The two-way star had 11 catches for 119 yards and also tallied an insane interception on the opposite side of the ball. A true game-changer.

Colorado just showed they're a legitimate force to be reckoned with and it really proves just how good of a coach Sanders is. You better believe the Buffaloes will be marching into their home stadium on Saturday with their heads held high. While it was just one game, it does appear CU can accomplish some big things in 2023.

Nebraska vs Colorado Picks

I just love what I saw from Colorado on Saturday and I expect a lot of the same. Nebraska looked rather poor and I believe Sanders and Co. will take advantage. Hammer that moneyline.
