Who do Bettors Favor?
Manchester City’s huge advantage in the betting markets had been shortening, but their 2-2 draw with rivals Liverpool has seen the gap widen. According to the best online sportsbook sites City can be backed at -260 to win the league, with Liverpool available at +200. The only other team with an outside chance of getting involved is Chelsea, but they are now huge underdogs at +34000.

Betting on the Premier League Title
Manchester City continues to top the Premier League table, but only by a single point ahead of Liverpool. The one-point margin is theoretically lower because Liverpool's better goal difference ensures that even if they pull level on points, they will be ahead of City.
You might not see the problem right away if you look at City's recent results. They've won six games, drawn two, and only lost once, in a 3-2 thriller against Tottenham Hotspur. Given the large advantage they had built up, that form would generally be adequate to keep a team in the lead.
Most Premier League leaders, on the other hand, have never had to deal with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool. During AFCON 2021, the Reds made a mockery of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane's absence by winning nine games in a row. That run came to an end in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend, but that result merely underlined how little there is to choose between the two teams and looking at the current odds, all of the value lies with the Reds.
Betting on the Premier League Challengers
A few weeks back it seemed as though Arsenal were booked in for the fourth spot, behind Chelsea, City and Liverpool. But three defeats in four games have seen the Gunners drop to fifth, three points behind their North London rivals Tottenham, who have been hitting form at the right time.
Antonio Conte’s team now have a six-point lead over both West Ham and Manchester United and neither of those two are in the kind of form that would enable them to close that gap. So the battle for the final Top Four spot looks like a straightforward fight between Spurs and Arsenal. The two will meet in what promises to be a thunderous derby on May 7, but right now, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in such strong goalscoring form, Tottenham seem to be in the driving seat.
Best Bet for Premier League Relegation
A draw against Brighton and a hugely important victory over Burnley has given Norwich fans something to hope for but despite these results, they remain at the same price in the relegation market, so those looking for value here should probably cast their net wider.
Burnley had looked like they were digging themselves out of a hole when they beat Everton two games back, but the defeat against Norwich was a tough blow that undid much of their previous good work and leaves them four points behind the Toffees with eight games to go.
Still, I’m not sure that they can be written off yet, mainly because of the relative strengths of the two clubs’ fixture lists. Burnley’s run-in is relatively straightforward and although trips to West Ham and Tottenham will be tough, their other games are all winnable, including a relegation six-pointer against Watford.
By contrast, Everton will have to face West Ham, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as Watford in their closing eight games. That could test the resolve of the squad and the abilities of Frank Lampard and so at this stage, I’m sticking with Everton as the best bet to be relegated.
Premier League Top Scorer Bets
Mohamed Salah has had a brilliant season, scoring at an incredible pace on both sides of a draining AFCON 2021 campaign. Despite the fact that he has to split the goals with Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota, who have 13 and 15, respectively, the Egyptian skipper has 20 Premier League goals to his name.
Jota is still five goals off the pace set by his prolific team-mate, so with just a handful of games remaining it would take an extraordinary run of form for him to catch up. The same can’t be said for Son Heung-min, who has closed the gap dramatically and is now only three goals behind. Salah remains a strong favorite but it could be worth having a small wager on the South Korean star.
