West Ham United, nicknamed “the Hammers,” are a Premier League soccer team hailing from East London. They played their home games at the Boleyn Ground (Upton Park) from 1904 to the end of the 2015/16 season, but now play at the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Although West Ham has never won the First Division or Premier League title (their highest-ever finish was third in 1985/86), they have won the FA Cup three times, the European Cup Winners Cup, and the UEFA Intertoto Cup. The 2015/16 season, the first that Slaven Bilic was manager of the team, saw West Ham finish seventh in the Premier League. They broke several records for the club in the Premier League era.

Their 62 points were the highest total they’d managed in the Premier League, as were the 65 goals scored, the lowest away defeats at five, and the least number of games lost in a season with eight.

It was a hugely successful season, one that saw them qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

Things didn’t go according to plan during the 2016-17 season as the Hammers endured an injury-plagued season. Pressure piled up on Bilic but anyone who understands football knows that he is definitely the man to manage the Hammers for seasons to come.

What Are The Current West Ham Standings

West Ham are usually a middle-of-the-pack kind of team. They’ll hope to qualify for one of the Europa League places in coming seasons. Track their current progress below.

West Ham struggled to find consistent form in 2016-17. They were hit hard with the injury bug and had to cope with losing Dimitri Payet during the season. Slaven Bilic did the best he could with the team he had.

West Ham also endured difficult times at their new home stadium. Players didn’t adapt well to London Stadium, which is renowned for having a library-like atmosphere. A running track circles the pitch, not ideal for a top flight side looking to gain a competitive advantage at home.

Even after such a disappointing season, the Hammers still finished strong, ending Tottenham’s title dreams for a second season running. Expect this team, after the summer transfer period, to be stronger in the 2016-17 season.

Andy Carroll needs to stay healthy for West Ham to climb the table. He is a potent striker and can do just about anything required of him, which is particularly impressive considering his imperious size. Look to make a few prop bets on Manuel Lanzini, as he is incredibly talented, can score from set pieces and delivers with pinpoint accuracy.

Bilic will also prioritize strengthening his defense in the off season.
