7 Major NFL Injuries Casting A Shadow In 2015

7 Major NFL Injuries Casting A Shadow In 2015
The preseason is a fascinating time to be a football fan. One moment you're planning the victory parade and BOOM! a major injury tears those dreams to shreds. 2015's seen its share of players in need of medical attention and here's a look at seven of them.

Arian Foster - Houston Texans

Outside of JJ Watt clutching his anything, there are few things more terrifying for a Houston Texans fan than a season where superstar rusher Arian Foster's gone for a huge stretch. The 28-year-old back ran for 1,246 yards and collected a 13 TDs on the ground and in the air in 13 games in 2014, but in 2015 he'll be out for up to eight games with a groin injury. The Texans are pegged as a 50/1 Super Bowl shot.

Geno Smith - New York Jets

With Todd Bowles installed as the new head coach of the Jets, you can forgive fans for hoping for a fresh start for the franchise. Smash cut to the most Jets-y thing ever... Starting QB Geno Smith had his jaw broken by (now former) teammate IK Enemkpali and now he'll be gone for 5-10 weeks. Bowles says Smith might not be the starting pivot when he returns, so the green light's up for Ryan Fitzpatrick to try and wrestle away the starter's job.

Dee Milliner - New York Jets

Speaking of Jets that will be out of commission for an big stretch, NYJ will be without cornerback Dee Milliner for 6-8 weeks following wrist injury. The talented young secondary star is a major asset to the Jets when healthy but he also missed a large slab of 2014 with an Achilles injury.

Todd Gurley - St. Louis Rams

Todd Gurley's NFL career hasn't reached the regular season stage and he starts things off on the shelf. The 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is expected to miss the first few games of the season to deal with a knee injury. The Rams are said to be pleased with his progress and simply being cautious with their shiny new running back.

Will Beatty - New York Giants

Eli Manning's O-line protection suffered a hit as left tackle Will Beatty is out for a large percentage of the 2015 season courtesy of a pectoral injury obtained while working out. Beatty has been situated in a starter's position with the club since 2012 and now rookie Ereck Flowers is considered likely to move into the open spot.

Dontari Poe - Kansas City Chiefs

Offseason back surgery has invited questions on when Dontari Poe will return to the lineup. The nose tackle could be back in the lineup for the start of the regular season, but Week 1 is looking somewhat doubtful for Poe's reemergence.

Shaun Suisham - Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are already prepping for life without suspended rusher Le'Veon Bell for the early chunk of the season and now they'll be trying someone new at kicker. Shaun Suisham (who's been with the team since 2010) is out with an ACL injury. Pittsburgh (an 18/1 Super Bowl prospect) have signed Garrett Hartley to fill the void.
