Betting On Cleveland Browns Online

Winning hasn’t come easy in the last couple decades for the Cleveland Browns. In fact, it hasn’t come at all. The franchise was founded in 1946 and went on to win eight league championships — four in the AAFC along with four NFL titles. By 1995, owner Art Modell planned to relocate the organization to Baltimore, but not without a fight from fans and the city of Cleveland. Modell was eventually granted permission to move the team to Baltimore and the Cleveland franchise was suspended by the NFL until 1998, when the Browns were reborn as an expansion team. [+]

Since then, making just one playoff appearance in the 1990’s and one in the early 2000’s, it’s been nothing but hard times for the Browns. The club plays in one of the toughest divisions in football — the AFC North — which is also comprised of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

In total, the Browns have won 12 division titles dating back to its inaugural season. However, the club has not topped the division since the 1989 campaign.

Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown is the most beloved player to ever don a Browns uniform. Brown is the club’s all-time rushing leader with 12,312 yards to go along with 106 touchdowns. Brian Sipe, who played with the Browns for 10 seasons from 1974 to 1983, holds the franchise record for passing yards with 23,713.

Cleveland Browns Online Betting Tips

It’s been hard to draw any positives from the Cleveland Browns’ 2016 season, finishing with a terrible 1-15 record and also missing the playoffs for a 15th consecutive year.

It doesn’t look as if things will get any better in the short term either.

Online sportsbooks — including Bovada.lv — have the Browns opening the 2017 campaign as +20000 underdogs to win the Super Bowl. Bovada isn’t giving the Browns much of a chance to even come out of their division, pegging the Browns as the +3300 darkest horse to top the AFC North.

The Browns were dreadful in every aspect during the 2016 season, finishing with a point differential of -188, which was the worst by far in the NFL. The Browns scored 264 points while surrendering 452 — second most behind the San Francisco 49ers. Cleveland struggled to generate any offense in 2016 and it showed on the field as the club finished with the third worst yards per game average.

As bad as the team’s run game was in 2016, the Browns were even worse passing the football. With a carrousel of quarterbacks that included Kody Kessler, Josh McCown and Robert Griffin III, the Browns were only able to produced 15 TD passes, which ranked second last ahead of the Los Angeles Rams.

The Browns were winless on the road and picked up their only win of the season at FirstEnergy Stadium.

BetOnline has set Cleveland’s projected win total at 4.5. Cleveland does have a few winnable games on a very hard schedule but all in all, it’s going to be another trying season for the Browns.
