One of the most painful playoff droughts in all of football came to an end when the Oakland Raiders finally made the post-season in 2016. It snapped a string of 14 years in which the club missed the playoffs. It is a sign of good things to come for the Raiders, who have endured years of pain and suffering after winning three Super Bowls in 1976, 1980 and 1983. The Raiders, who were founded in 1960, also won a league title as when it was part of the American Football League. [+]

The Raiders — previously based in Los Angeles before relocating to the Bay Area in 1995 — last won the Super Bowl in 1983 when the club steamrolled the Washington Redskins 38-9. Former star running back Marcus Allen, who rushed for 190 yards with two touchdowns, was named Super Bowl MVP.

The Raiders went on to make the playoffs nine times in the next 33 years after that championship-winning campaign.

Allen still holds the club record for rushing yards with 8,545 yards and touchdowns with 79. Former star QB Ken Stabler is the club’s all-time passing leader with 19,078 yards to go along with 190 touchdown passes. Tim Brown’s 14,734 receiving yards with the Raiders is also a franchise best mark.
