The 2025 PGA Championship tees off this Thursday at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, marking the second major of the season. A field of 156 players will compete for the Wanamaker Trophy. Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are the betting favorites. We tell you who to back when we name our latest golf betting picks.
- What: 2025 US PGA Championship
- Where: Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club, Charlotte, North Carolina
- When: Thursday, May 15th – Sunday, May 18th
- Yardage: 7,600
- Par: 71
Xander Schauffele will attempt to defend the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow later this week.
The 31-year-old American won the 2024 edition by one shot ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, giving the world No. 3 the first major championship win of his career.
If Schauffele is to successfully defend his title, he will have to tame the par-71 North Carolina course and its challenging closing stretch of three holes known as “The Green Mile.”
This trio includes the newly lengthened 529-yard par-4 16th, a demanding 223-yard par-3 17th, and the formidable 18th hole, rated the toughest on the PGA Tour last year.
In the 2017 PGA Championship held here, 91 balls found water on these holes, underscoring their difficulty.
Betting to win the 2025 US PGA Championship
The bookmakers are flipping between two betting favorites. Some are going with Masters’ winner Rory McIlroy, while others choose world No.1 Scottie Scheffler.
There is little difference, though. One of our top-rated golf betting online sites, BetUS, favors Scheffler at +425, with McIlroy at +450. It really is close, so it’s best to shop around to bag yourself the best price.
Leading the charge for the LIV Golf 16-man contingent is last year’s runner-up Bryson DeChambeau. The two-time major winner is +1000. The defending champion Xander Schauffele is the joint fourth-favorite at +1400, along with Ludvig Aberg.

Our 2025 US PGA Championship Picks and Predictions
Let’s get straight into our best bets of the PGA Championship, and we are starting with the head-to-head showdown between the top two golfers in the world, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
Rory McIlroy to shoot a lower score than Scottie Scheffler -120
In a head-to-head matchup at Quail Hollow, Rory McIlroy has the edge over Scottie Scheffler thanks to a near-perfect combination of course history, current form, and confidence.
McIlroy is a four-time winner at this venue and knows every nuance of its demanding layout, including the treacherous “Green Mile” finish. The Irishman also holds the course record here, having shot 61 back in 2015.
Fresh off a career-defining Masters win and a T7 at the Truist last week, McIlroy arrives in peak form with renewed momentum.
Scheffler, while incredibly consistent tee-to-green, has struggled with his putter of late, but that didn’t stop him from recording an eight-stroke win at the Byron Nelson at the beginning of the month.
That said, defeating McIlroy in his current form could be beyond Scheffler if his putting isn’t spot on. The greens at Quail Hollow are unforgiving, and any mistakes will be punished.
With softer conditions likely to reward high ball flight and power, two of Rory’s trademarks, the Irishman is the more likely of the two to take advantage of scoring opportunities.
Therefore, over four rounds, we are backing McIlroy to cash in on his course familiarity and make him our pick to beat Scheffler in the head-to-head.
If you are considering backing one of the two to win the event, we would also recommend a wager on Rory.
Bryson DeChambeau to win US PGA Championship +1000
Players who can hit the ball a long way are set to prosper at Quail Hollow. Bryson DeChambeau is one such player.
The 31-year-old arrives at Quail Hollow as a high-upside wildcard who could absolutely overpower this PGA Championship setup.
Known for his aggressive style, DeChambeau is one of the longest hitters in professional golf, regularly driving the ball 330+ yards.
On a course like Quail Hollow, this ability will be priceless. The Green Mile won’t intimidate the American, and the lengthy par 4s, reachable par 5s, and wide corridors off the tee play into DeChambeau’s hands with his ability to shorten holes and attack with wedges and short irons.
Furthermore, DeChambeau is in excellent form. He was in the final pairing with McIlroy in last month’s Masters (although he did fall away to a disappointing T5), and he has just won LIV Golf Korea at the beginning of the month.
Cameron Young - Top 10 Finish +1200
Cameron Young looks like an intriguing dark horse pick for the 2025 PGA Championship.
Young registered a T7 finish at the Truist Championship last weekend, so he is in good form.
The 28-year-old has raw power and a ball-striking profile tailor-made for Quail Hollow. Young ranks among the PGA Tour’s elite in Driving Distance, averaging over 310 yards off the tee in 2025.
Young gains strokes off the tee, and if he can get his putter working this week, he is a value dark-horse at +11000.
A more sensible wager may be to back Young for a top-ten finish at +1200.
