The New York Jets found early success after debuting as an original member of the American Football League in 1960. Only eight seasons since being founded, the Jets captured the AFL Championship, defeating the Baltimore Colts in the final. Two years later the Jets joined the National Football League as part of the AFL-NFL merger. That crown still stands as the only Super Bowl victory for the Jets, who have made 13 playoff appearances since that 1968 title run, including four trips to the AFC Championship.
The Jets are among two other NFL franchises — New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers — with one Super Bowl victory.
The Jets are a member of the AFC East — a division the club has captured twice in their history. Their main three rivalries include the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. However, the Jets also have a longstanding rivalry with New York’s second NFL franchise, the Giants.
Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath had an illustrious career with the Jets and holds the all-time passing yards record with 27,057 to go along with 170 touchdowns. Curtis Martin, who played eight years with the Jets, is the franchise’s all-time rushing leader, racking up 10,302 yards. His 58 rushing TDs is also a club record.

New York Jets Online Betting Tips
There wasn’t much to cheer about during the 2016 season for the New York Jets. Finishing dead last in the AFC East, the Jets were among the worst offensive teams in the NFL. With a carousel of quarterbacks that consisted of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith and Bryce Petty, the Jets finished 25th overall in total yards per game, averaging 340.4.
The Jets ditched Fitzpatrick and replaced him with pivot Josh McCown — an NFL journeyman who brings a ton of experience but lacks star power.
The Jets head into the 2017 campaign as +6600 underdogs to win the AFC East Division — something they haven’t done since 2002. On top of that, BetOnline pegs the Jets as a +20000 dark horse to win the Super Bowl. Only the Cleveland Browns have worse odds.
One bright spot for the Jets was the fact the club finished 12th overall in rushing. The Jets racked up 1,802 rushing yards — 800 of them coming from Matt Forte — and averaged 4.3 yards per rush attempt. New York rushers also only fumbled the ball six times in 2016, which was among the fewest in the NFL.
Instead of putting your money down on a straight futures bet, it’s probably a safer bet to play some of the intriguing prop bets BetOnline is offering heading into the 2017 season. BetOnline has set New York’s projected wins total at 4.5. The Jets are going to be bad, but can they get five wins?
