2022 Super Bowl Picks: Will Tampa Bay Buccaneers be Next NFL Team to Repeat?

Check out our best NFL bets for who will win the 2022 Super Bowl.

Time sure flies when there's a lot going on. The 2021 NFL regular season is proof. Only a few weeks of games remain, and before you now it, you'll be betting on the Super Bowl.

Speaking of which, let's talk about the 2022 Super Bowl, which is set to take place on Sunday, February 13, at SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, California. Unlike many other NFL seasons, this year's championship landscape lacks what feels like a Super Bowl-winning formality. The latest odds on the NFL playoffs are a quintessential example. Usually, by Week 15, you have a team laying lower than even money—or close to it. Right now, every team is paying out better than even money.

Oddsmakers, of course, have settled on a favorite. The reigning champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are being billed as the next team to repeat, but should they headline your 2022 Super Bowl picks? We're here to investigate.

First, though, here's a look at the latest Super Bowl betting odds from BetOnline:

2022 Super Bowl Predictions

Though 28 NFL teams are still laying odds to win the 2022 Super Bowl, you needn't be fooled by the breadth of that field. The actual number of contenders is much smaller, because more than a handful of squads are all but eliminated from the NFL playoffs.

To simplify your life, we're going to discuss the best 2022 Super Bowl bets before finishing with our official NFL Super Bowl prediction.

Should the Bucs be Super Bowl Favorites?

Winning consecutive Super Bowls is extremely hard, and the last team to do it also had Tom Brady under center, when the New England Patriots accomplished the feat in 2004 and 2005. And from where we're standing, his latest team, the Bucs, has a pretty good shot of getting a second straight ring this year.

Concern is inherent for any team whose MVP is 44 years old. But it's difficult to doubt an offense piloted by Brady, even at his age. The Bucs are first in points scored per game, and he's posting one of the highest completion percentages and overall passing ratings of his entire career.

Combine this with a relative powerhouse vacuum in the NFL, and you have to like Tampa Bay's chances of winning another Super Bowl in 2022.

Better Super Bowl Bet: Chiefs, Packers, Patriots or Cardinals?

It initally looked like the Chiefs (+700) were about to fall off the rails when they dropped to 3-4. Instead, they haven't lost since, and their winning streak includes much improved defensive play. To top it all off, Patrick Mahomes has started to look like Patrick Mahomes again in recent weeks.

The Packers (+600) have perked up after a somewhat slow start themselves. They've also successfully navigated Aaron Rodgers' absence due to COVID-19. Their offense is just a little too inconsistent for our takes.

Everyone is talking about the Patriots (+650). They have seized the lead in the AFC East on the back of a strong defense and Rookie of the Year-type stuff from Mac Jones. On the flip side, not enough people are talking about the Arizona Cardinals (+750). They have the best record in the NFL, and a potential MVP in QB Kyler Murray. Their defense, both on the ground and in the air, is our only concern.

As wild as it sounds, the Chiefs are the most well-balanced team at both sides of the ball among this bunch. They'd be our pick to come out of this group.

Are the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Contenders?

Some started questioning the legitimacy of the Cowboys (+1000) after they lost on Thanksgiving Day to the Las Vegas Raiders. As it turns out, that was just a flash in the pan. The Dak Prescott-steered offense remains among the league's elite.

But do the Cowboys have the ability to get enough stops in the postseason? That's the question. And despite the play of rookie linebacker Micah Parsons, who leads all players in tackles for a loss, Dallas needs to see better displays from its secondary to rank as a viable title threat.

2022 Super Bowl Champion Pick

Apologies for anyone looking to get a spicy prediction. Our Super Bowl winner is the Bucs.

If you're looking at alternatives, you should absolutley pounce on the Cardinals at +750. But the Bucs have a young defense with high upside to go along with the best offense.

Maybe it's smart to go with an AFC team, like the Chiefs, because they'll have an easier path to the Super Bowl itself; there's a glaring lack of contenders in that conference. Ultimately, though, we trust what the Bucs have built too much to pick against them.
